Dance 'n Shoot
« on: March 20, 2006, 11:06:47 AM »

Description:

It's a "musical shooter". You have to play the music (something like Donkey Konga for NGC) and kill the enemies. Press the key corresponding to the pad on the bottom screen when it passes through the white circle and you wil lshoot Cheesy. the more accurate is your press, better the shoot and faster the bar for the special shoot will fill up.

controls:

A / B / X / Y: play the music and shoot.
L: shoots the weakest laser.
R: special shoot (when special bar is filled)
L+R+Select+Start: reset the game.

Sometimes the sprite system might look weird (hanging shoots, sprites looking terrible, etc.), but it's a bug I didn't have the proper time to fix (if you don't shoot A LOT it doesn't seem to happen, though). When it happens, just reset the game (L+R+Select+Start) or keep playing it until it's over, it just looks awfull, but nothing that will interfere on the engine system, so it's still playable Grin.

here are some screen shots:

Intro:

Game:

Special bar filled:

Special Shoot (on real harware, the missiles are pointed to the enemies  Grin):

Ship destroyed:

Game Over Screen:

I'll attach the 3 files that are created after compile, so just get the one you need...

Comments on the game are highly appreciated Grin

EDIT: Can download it again, the code is better now, it bugs less often Tongue

This is weird. In a very intruiguing sort of way.
I can see somebody playing this for a while, hoping to get good at it.
It's so hard.(good re-play value,I guess)
Nicely put-together.

All the great work that all of the participants have submitted has me seriously considering trying the devarm kit again.
Last time I tried my eyes crossed for three days, but that's a commitment issue on my part,I think.

One of my favorites. But I like most of them.

lol, in it's stage it's really difficult Tongue. The problem is, I still haven't got the hardware to run it on my DS (it was supposed to arrive this weekend, but... Sad), so I couldn't make the pads come in the exactly rhythm of the music, nor I had time to think of a better design for the enemies Tongue.

but it's still a work-in-progress, the final release will hopefully be more balanced Tongue

p.s.: I got terrified when I first saw the programming for NDS (the "Hello World!" example didn't compile  sm-02), but when I've discovered PA_lib, and realized how simple it was to use it, my hopes came back Tongue
