You might be thinking about mk4 SD (not yet released).  That may not require the gba cart (need to wait for the official announcement).

As the announcement at the top says, Mk4-key is practically identical to the mk4-mini (except it doesn't have the save space)

If I were to get this MK4-Key without the save space, would I have to download only the roms that are listed as "GBA save" as opposed to "NDS save", or does it depend on the flash cart that I have?  Just wondering if it would be a better idea to get an MK4-Mini.

How much save space does the MK4-Mini have? How big is an average NDS rom save file? Are there any compatibility issues with patching NDS roms? In other words, can I patch ALL NDS roms and just store the save files them on my GBA flash cart, or would the MK4-Key  be better as i wont have to worry about this complication (if it exists).

Is the MK4-SD in works, or are there any plans to put it into works? If it is going to come out, then I will wait, but if its not I'll just get a MK4 and NEO2-TF.

Also, in the first set of pictures, is that a black Lite, or is that the dark blue one?

The mk4-mini should accommodate any save file out there.  At this point, I can't conjecture which will be better as far as speed and compatibility are concerned: mk4-mini plus a neo2 or the mk4-SD.  You should be able to save directly to the cart with the neo2 and to the SD card with mk4 SD (so I wouldn't worry about the EEPROM on the mini complicating matters)

Mk4 SD is still in the works as far as I know.  It's scheduled to come out after the neo2 (looks like the neo2 has been delayed for 2-3 weeks, according to Dr. Neo).

It was supposed to be out anytime now, but Dr. Neo recently made an announcement that it's going to be 2-3 weeks because of testing I think.

As mentioned, the mk4-mini is basically just a passme2 device by itself.

There is a mk4-mini + neoflash 512 cart package available.  With that you use the mk4-mini patcher in order to flash a single nds rom to the cart.  The rom is patched to save to the EEPROM on the mk4-mini itself.  Dr. Neo has not released any official software that will backup this save to your pc, so it's rather limited currently.

So, right now, the save space on the mk4-mini is used for nds only..

You can run gba roms on the neoflash 512 cart using a separate gba loader, in which case gba saves are stored on the SRAM on the cart itself.

Basically, if you combine a mk4-mini + a neo 2 flashcart (which should have a multi-loader for both gba and nds roms), then you should be able to save both (though it sounds like gba will save to the SRAM on the neo2)

how come some games tell to reinsert the ds card it cant save to the mk4 mini im using latest patcher and everything up to date can some one explain this problem games play but when it goes to save it says turn off power and reinsewrt ds cart

you're sure you patched the roms?
