TrigWars - My Entry
« on: August 06, 2006, 10:40:46 AM »
Hi everybody,
Here's my entry for the PSP game programming competition, I hope you enjoy.
It's a remake of an old classic XBox 360 game, see if you can guess which one!
There are a few things missing at the moment, but I'll post an update sometime in the week.

You can download it from the posts further on in this thread, make sure to get the latest version!

In game controls :-

   Analog stick = Steer ship
   Left trigger = Thrust
   Right Trigger = Fire
   Triangle = Smart bomb

Hiscore controls :-

   Left trigger = Delete letter
   Right trigger = Enter letter
   Cross = Accept name

Cheers,

Sounds is now in and working, but I'm not happy with the samples I've got.
As you can probably tell I'm not a musician! :D

Cheers,

Nice work, I love the smooth gameplay and unique controls (different than Geometry Wars if I recall correctly). Also, I love how you were able to make the background like Geometry Wars, that is a nice feat/accomplishement.

The sound isn't that bad :p

Again 71M you do a great job! This may sound quite random a I'm sure you have never heard of me or seen me on the forums (anywhere) before. But actually I registered here to talk to you! I realize that Trigonometry Wars is already hosted on a site called easy-monkey.co.uk but I would like to offer you more of a permanent home at my site that is almost completely developed. You will have your own space on the site with about 5-8gb of upload space. The site name is hacking-evolutions.net. The homepage is currently not working but the forums are. If you are interested in this offer please post in my forum at hacking-evolutions.net/forums . I'm sorry neoflash.com it may seem like I'm taking advantage of your great forums but actually all I'm trying to do is make 71M's coding skills more geratly known to the public. Thank you for your time!

Oh yeah and just for the record the sound is pretty good!

71M, are you still working on this? So far you have done a great job but I do have a few suggestions (which I'm sure you have already heard before):
1. Lose the booster, instead just have the "ship" move with the control pad/analog nub.
2. Have the weapon fire in a certain direction depending on what button you press (Square = Left, Triangle = Above, etc).
3. More types of enemies of course.
4. Brighter bullets/enemies (more-so on the bullets).
5. Floating power-ups would be a nice addition also (shield, bomb, gun fire rate, extra cannon).
These are all my opinions so take them however you want to. And thanks for making this game!

Yeah I agree with number 1 holding the left shoulder button does get kind of tiring but with number 2 you could only shoot out at 4 directions the way it currently is seems easier..I also agree with number 3 and 4..could you consider adding those snake things from geometry wars if you havent already..(i dont really know may not have gottentfar enough...) and I think floating power ups make it too easy..I like the power up method that was in geomtry wars..you get a weapon boost every 10,000 points
