[NDS GAME] Slide And Run
« on: August 19, 2006, 01:33:48 AM »
Slide And Run

Marsxzel is an alien who fall on earth by... accident.
He's lost on some strange countries and must find his spaceship as quickly as possible.
The only way to survive is to catch a max of space-mushrooms, which help him to breathe, or to find the spaceship.

Help Marsxzel by moving items on its way and to catch space-mushrooms.

2 countries, 3 levels by country and 2 mode of gameplay ("Versus Time" and " Catch All") = 12 levels of game !

Some items are moveable with the stylus, some others not. Some items can fly, and some others not.
Use the stylus to trace the best way to Marsxzel.

It is 0.9 version. I will add some cool features in the physics engine, add items, and make my own music (credits for the music are in the readme file, in the archive).

[edit] I forgotten the ReadMe.txt in the archive ^^.. corected.[/Edit]

Yes of course, Marsxzel can stay in the air if an item is under him.
marsxzel can walk on every thing (like any alien or human).

It can help you to cross some obstacles

This is an amazing game.  It is so profesional.  The only problem I am having is that sometimes I will get (seemingly) random freeze ups where even the clock will stop moving.  It seems to happen if the main charecter gets tangled up in items or something.  I'm using the .nds version on my gbamp.  Any one else experiencing this.  Anyway amazing game.

Thank you  :)

I know the bug when the game freeze sometimes (only on hardware, not on emu).

It is still a 0.9 version. I do not have the time to correct it before the start of the contest, but it will be fixed in the final release (when I'll come back from my vacations :) )

It's too easy, since I can just take an animal, and hold it (don't let go) and have mr alien walk all the way across the level, and not worry about any obstacles. Perhaps put a limit to how long you can hold an animal for? Otherwise, it's a good start.

I think its too easy as well, but I like the idea. And the design is very good!
On the other hand, the sounds made me stop the game. I just dislike the sound loops when picking up something that makes a sound. Please change that in the future.

All in all, nice entry!

Cool.  Just needs music and sound and a way to keep me from cheating!

Thank you :)

Musics and Sound are note from me. I just took them from a free pack and from the websites I mentionned in the Readme file.

It is in my radar to modify them for the next realease.

I will add a system to let the animals (or other items) down after a few seconds (good idea Davr)
And I will add a response to the collision too (when an item will hurt another, so the second one will move too, responding to the choc).

Next release few days after the contest :)

Wait, it has music and sound already?  Hmm...I missed that.....

Maybe instead of what DavR said you should have a meter of some kind.  You are only allowed so much 'touch juice' at max capacity, and each thing you pickup / hold uses some of the juice (more of you hold).  It should slowly refill when not holding things (or even when holding things, just at a set rate)

This could add a lot of depth to it in the future.
