Supercard SD
I connect to my access point but on my DS I get a cannot connect to TCP server message. I've tried TightVNC and RealVNC and I get the same thing. I completely disabled Norton and tried, still nothing. I forwarded (and triggered) the ports. Any ideas of what's wrong?

I have tried with the latest version, that's my issue - it just doesnt' want to connect. I've tried both on my G6L and my M3 - both of which can run the DS IRC app that was released in this comp and connects perfectly

Ok, I've got an error message that might help explain why it's not working:

I've installed TightVNC on my Ubuntu Dapper box.

I can access the vncserver with a PalmVNC client on my Lifedrive, so I know that the server is up and running, and working.

The dsvnc client accepts the host address, and attempts to connect, but hangs.  If I press L and R at the same time, i see the debug window in the top screen and it says that it's connected.

But no joy.

However, looking at the log file for the vncserver, I see this:

rfbProcessClientProtocolVersion: not a valid RFB client

Could that be the reason it's not connecting?

I did get it running briefly with X11VNC, but perhaps because I run XGL/Compiz etc... it runs really slow and buggy.

However, I loved what I saw of the interface and I'm determined to debug this!

Any help would be wonderful.  I'm going to boot into XP and see if it works over there with RealVNC.

Edit:  RealVNC works just fine - GREAT PROGRAM, Thoduv!!!

Now I just have to figure out the linux side.

Cheers,

Dali

asdfasdfasdf and spalt > Fixed ...

Phew, I wasn't expecting for so many problems ...  ::sm-02::

Works!  And is awesome!  I think we have a winner :)

The only tiny thing I saw is scrolling seems to be a little wonky... for instance in IE clicking the down arrow on a long webpage will scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.  You could maybe fix this by putting the arrow keys on the on-screen keyboard, then when you want to want to scroll down, you hit select, click the down arrow key, and it scrolls down a little, etc.

Anyway, thanks!

Argh, I still don't know what the problem is on my M3 (and my G6L), I'll do some more testing tonight - it just doesn't seem to connect to the internet at all (WFC settings are fine -  worked with DS IRC) In the end, this still got my vote though since I've heard only good comments about it

I tried it, but I only got two white screens (with a blue liney thing on the bottom of the top screen) upon connection to my linux server.  Tried different resolutions and depths.

Please keep developing this though!  I think it could be very useful / fun.

Post your homepage if you haven't already.

Dali> "rfbProcessClientProtocolVersion: not a valid RFB client". Interesting, which version of TightVNC are you using ?

QuickJump> After splashscreen, press L+R and look at the debug infos. Is there anything about Wifi lib initialization ?

Many thanks to people who vote for me !  ;D

I did that, there is no WiFi lib initialization - it just shows the first info line about
 dsvnc Aug 21 2006 , 14:34:27

That's the first info line, and when I go to connect, it just shows -

Connecting to WiFi Data
Error: Unable to join Wifi network etc...

EDIT: By splash screen you are talking about the NeoFlash one correct? My NDS swings past it (I don't see it, just a white screen for a split second and then it shows the main menu area).

Perhaps a synchronization problem between cpus... I updated again, you can try if you want.

I really hate that kind of bugs ...  ::sm-02::

I'm just sorry I'm the only one with this problem ::sm-03::  I'm trying it on my DSL btw, that might be a difference?

EDIT - Still same error, however I do get the WiFi initiated at the start of the program

EDIT - I'll try shutting off my router and turning it back on in a few minutes - see if that will kick start it (although all other progs work)

EDIT - Nope that didn't work. I get the same error as if it doesn't read my settings. This is odd because other WiFi programs and games work - it could be becasue I transfered my DS WiFi Settings from my DS to my DSL when I got it?

EDIT: JFYI - I have my router set to have  DHCP Server enabled, I've noticed that this may be an issue with some homebrew applications?

IMPORTANT EDIT - I've been able to connect now using a static IP address with the new version you uploaded :) Connection succeeded, now to see if I can get this puppy to work, thanks!

Using Ubuntu Dapper Drake, the version of TightVNC installed is 1.2.9-8ubuntu2.

That's what my package manager says, anyway.  I suppose I could see if there's a fresh source I could compile?

Thanks again!  You get my vote!

This looks amazing, and just what I need at the moment, but nah, no joy here either I'm afraid.  I've not used VNC before, but I seem to have it set up right...it kept telling me it couldn't initialise VNC until I read the thread again, and changed the port in RealVNC to 5700.  Then it just stays on the connecting page, the led flashes and nowt happens, no matter how long I leave it.

Revision 1 MiniSD M3, DS Lite, Windows XP, Nintendo WIFI USB dongle with custom drivers.  I'll dick about with it again tomorrow, maybe try another VNC server and see if that works.
