Would I be wrong in assuming that Neo 3 is the third generation in the Neo NDS  venture in that the third generation fixes problems in NDS  Rom compatibility that the second generation had?

Maybe your right I thought about Neoflash was just trying to make it a less costly product also and then I said no there must be another reason.

Lets have it Dr Neo.

What's the different in the Neo2-TF and the Neo3-TF other than cost and GBA support?

This has already been explained elsewhere.

Like you(kinda)said:The NEO3 is a lower-cost alternative for people with a working GBA solution already in place, and for lower budgets.

That's all.

I'm not Dr. Neo,but this is the answer you'd get, either way.

Unless you were on the development team for this product you wouldn't know with 100% insight!

Spend time worrying about it,then.

 :)

BTW,I only have 5 MK4's,2 NEO2lite 512's,a NEO2lite 1g(!),3 NEO2SD's,and 2 NEO3TF's(plus countless-'bout 5g's altogether-older NEO products),some of these, gifts from Dr. Neo directly.

So it's not like I'd know...

Last thing-Flash memory is expensive, probably the biggest manufacturing cost in back-up products. This eliminates the need for flash memory, and lowers cost for the consumer.
That's my guess, anyway,as to the reason for this.

This is what it really is.

Flashcarts have special RAM that GBA games load into, about 32MB worth. Companies are taking that out in order to lower costs. The supercard has GBA ram, it is just low quality and cheap(hence its bad GBA compat). The M3 has it too, and is high quality and expensive(Hence the larger price).

Neo2 has GBA RAM, Neo3 took it out. Same NDS Compat, TOTALLY different GBA compat.

The only other difference is that homebrew developers have been using that RAM lately for more possibilities(Moonshell, DS Linux, the NDS Opera browser hack). But hell, its not like there is homebrew on the Neo2/3 anyway.

Why do "NEO3-TF " not support NDS and only NDSL ?

NEO3-SD support NDS and NDS-lite

It's probally that the casing is in small format so it would be to small to fit in the original NDS but fits very good in the NDSL.

For the normal NDS you could use the normal SD version and a tf/micro-sd card with a micro-sd to sd adapter.
