How well held together is this Neo-TF? I mean if I take the case off to remove the battery to clear the memory, am I risking breaking anything or should the case just pop open?

I think I may break something in the process!

I hope you get yours un-flashed,or try it in another NDS before your judgement is made.

My review will not be published if I do not fix this problem.  ::sm-22.gif::

I don't think you'd really need to clear the memory or anything, and yes,the fifa .sav is on every card(it has to have a .sav in it at all to work(or something...)

There should be a screw under the NEO sticker on the back,if you absolutely feel the need to get in there.(Thanks Cory.... :-[)
Slide the top part of the case down(carefully),then lift it.

Just be careful, but you should be able to lift the entire board out of the case to examine. It's pretty durable(if you got the nutz to get in there, you should be o.k.,y'know?).

I have done so with a couple,and they work fine,but one version I have (the production model)has the battery"glued"(I don't know,really)in.

But I really think the software(NEO2Manager)and the menu versions can"clear out"anything you need.

 ::sm-22.gif::

EDIT:I may have implied by my post that I've got the "nutz".I dont.I was in there out of necessity(testing and whatnot, hehe),and was terrified the whole time.
But it worked out O.K.

EDITEDIT:My explanations are from experience with the SD version, and there may be physical differences I am unaware of.
I don't plan on buying a TF card, anyway.(The more flush front edge sounds appealing, though.Maybe they'll make an SD version that slides in the side.)

First I need to clear up that I am using a NEO2-TF and not whatever rogerpoco is talking about (SD maybe?).

Well first I tried the XYAB method and the card boots to the menu fine but there appears to be some issues when using this method - When you update the firmware then reboot the system, the menu is reverted back to the old version.

There is basically no way for me to test this any further now. I stuck a screw driver in the micro SD slot and carefully prized open the cover. The battery is infact a permanent fixture inside the NEO2-TF but i managed to slide a small piece of card under the battery to disable the connection. This still did not work.

I find it strange that I am being told this is due to problems with FlashMe being installed. When i first attempted to load a game it loaded the game fine but just wouldn't boot the game properly due to the current compatibility issues. The problems only arose when i renamed that stupid FIFA save to Lego.sav then tried to load the game for the second time. Also the menu is freezing when "Erasing NDS Save.." so that would tell me that the card is having problems accessing the SRAM and not a problem with booting roms?

This is really wierd, if the NEO Team can somehow make it so i can skip the Erase DS Save part then i am almost sure this will then be back working again.

Any way for me to put that FIFA save back into SRAM so i can try from scratch again. Or an option in the NEO2 Menu to blank the SRAM or something?

Update - OMG It is surprising what persistence can do!

Ok I managed to get it to boot with the MK4-Mini quite well now and I managed to load up Mario Kart and Mario 3on3. Using the XYAB method with FlashMe DOES NOT WORK - this will load the menu as it was installed at the factory (wierd but true). After getting the MK4-Mini to actually do something i then click on the game and began mashing the buttons. A few seconds later it erased the save and asked me to load the game.

Wether the mashing of the buttons actually had any effect at all I do not know but i no longer need to mash the buttons and it seems to be working every time now with the MK4-Mini. MK4-Key however appears to have the same issues as FlashMe

Well back to testing now i suppose then, thanks for everyones help and I'm glad I have proved Dr Neo wrong by using the NEO2-TF on a flashme'd DS :)

They do yes but you need to boot it using the MK4-Mini else there are problems with the menu showing menu 1.0 when you have menu 1.1 installed. Then when you load with the MK4-Mini it shows 1.1 again.

This appears to happen with MK4-Key aswell which is even wierder than it happening with FlashMe as it is essentially the same product as the MK4-Mini  ::sm-04::

I'm glad I have proved Dr Neo wrong by using the NEO2-TF on a flashme'd DS :)

Ummmm.....

Dr Neo didn't say you COULDN'T use flashme, just DON'T use flashme.
It is probably why you have had problems till now.
It's great that you got it going, but I don't understand why you would be"glad"there.
Dr.NEO is very polite, and as helpful as can be.

The MK4 Mini and the MK4 key are very different,BTW.

I did not say it to dis-respect Dr Neo. I said it because the comment he made had me thinking it wouldn't work with FlashMe at all so I am bound to be happy it is working when I am thinking there is no chance.   ;D

FlashMe is more than likely the reason i was having problems i agree and my review does not take my problems into account.

You can check out my review if you want anyway here:

It didn't do quite as well as i was hoping and I can't wait for more updates.

Honestly,I do not feel your overall score(67%)is entirely fair(as you mention, the hardware potential is clear, but the software is not quite there yet)
Keep in mind that this is NOT at all like other products. The tech. stuff is over my head, but some of the things integrated into the NEO2 are not being done by other companies.

BUT!!!!
Your words were, for the most part, right on the money.
Good review, just wish there had been more points for"potential".
As I mentioned recently, there should be an update anytime.
How bout this for a deal:As there are major issues being tackled right now, maybe you could update your review with the next software update?
Just a thought.

BTW:If the TF is anything like the SD(and I think it is)you should be able to use the NEO-Manager to play GBA,just not multi-boot(GBA or NDS,one or the other, not both)with the inner flash zone.

Good job, though. You can tell you put the time in.

It is extremely difficult to review parts of the product that are not currently working. The review will more than likely be added to when more updates arise which, i will say again, I can't wait for.

You know, I find it awkward and somewhat disturbing that so many people have had problems with Animal Crossing on this product (perhaps just because of the clean dump), when I can play it for hours on end w/o freezes with my old MK1 if it is patched. Perhaps if someone used patched versions of some of the older problematic games they may find some success.
