Here is a Vista style skin for the menu. It's the first time I have created a skin and anyone that knows me knows I am possibly the worst person at making graphics! I have been learning how to use Paint Shop Pro (not brave enough for Photoshop yet) and I am slowly getting used to it

The skin isn't exactly how I wanted it but I had to change some things around to fit with the hard coded information such as the text and icons layout etc. Hopefully now the skinning seems to be popular, the menu coders will make the layout more flexible via the config file.

Feedback appreciated as I can only learn from my mistakes

OK, here's the first entry. It's the first of 4 variations of a skin I just created. The first attachment is a preview photo and the second one is a ZIP archive containing the actual skin. Hope you like it.

Here is my second skin, its another Vista style design but this time has darker glass style windows so that the white text can be seen properly on the SMS screen (you cant change the font colour for this and is always white), it also has a darker background to match.

Here's my third and final skin. It is a minimal design with a black background and silver grids and outline boxes for the game icons. Looks nice with white text.

[UPDATE] I updated the download as the right hand column for the icons squares was 1 pixel off. Grab black_grids2.zip below which has the updated desktop.bmp.

I have a slight problem though, I dont actually own a DS, so I have no way of testing this out.  Would someone be so kind as to help me out?

Also, I've noticed that the other entries have a global.ini.  How do I make this?

Bruce Lee, The Font for the MK5 logo is DarkCrystalScript. I installed the font so that editing the text including resizing was easy.

Also the global.ini is a configuration file for colours of text etc. It's probably best (if you want to include it, it's not that neccessary) to use someone else's as a base and just change the variables (which are in RRGGBB format. search google for an easy way to figure out how the colours you want are displayed (ie. search a color table))

Hello!

I made these two skins for the contest. Why two? Well, I wanted to make a skin for each edition of MK5 - for MK5 16G and MK5 8G. I think, each edition deserves its own look. I tried to follow the colors of the stickers to match the themes. In the end I got these two twin brothers, 'Paradise' (on the left) for 16G and 'Stars' (on the right) for 8G.
