Question about entering
« on: July 21, 2007, 04:24:32 PM »
This is a question for dr.neo:

I am working on a web-based (PHP/MYSQL) PSP App for sharing files (kind of like p2p) and i was wondering is there any rules against PHP apps being entered in Neo compo. It is called ShareBox :)

Thanks for your help.

I dont think so. I remember 1st annoucement said LUA or C(++).

I am pretty sure "coding" doesnt mean webpage development.

Sugg: Why dont you post it in 2nd announcement thread.

"coding" falls under many categories. This is why i'm asking, it is another form of less-known homebrew. PHP is not a layout designable language like HTML. I have still "coded" it in notepad entirely.

I'm just wondering i might have to PM dr. neo though.

can you tell me your APP is run on PSP or not?
if not run on PSP like a tool APP,then i think it's not suitable with our compo.
In my world, have 0 and 1 only ......Matrix World......

It runs from the webbrowser like a webpage.

Note: I've absolutely no problem if this enters the compo ::sm-21.gif::
And also I would love having more competition  ::sm-29.gif::

I think the question should be, does it run ON a psp? I'm not 100% sure of the rules myself, but does it count as a psp app if it does not run on a psp?

My view is different to that of spinals, that this is a Homebrew competition, so anything that runs under the games memory stick part of the psp would be, in my view a suitable entry.

It depends on how you would define the competition, really-- a coding competition should allow it, although I wouldn't class it as an entry into a Homebrew competition.

Either way, I think they should allow it-- its just another language, and its only fair. After all, they do allow LUA as a suitable language alongside the C/C++, so why not PHP?

In other words, I think it should be allowed even though I'm against it-- just to be fair.

if so is the case Flash releases should also be counted in. There comes the problem of copyright.

Yes it does run on a PSP, but i just ask dr. neo for confirmation that this is allowed. I count it as a form of homebrew, as it is just like homebrew, home-made code, but i need to know dr. neo's views on this  ::sm-29.gif::
