ASCII Pacman
« on: August 19, 2007, 03:04:40 PM »

Nickname: EvilSpoon
Projet name : ASCII Pacman
Division: NDS Game
Original enter : YES
In last NEO Compo this project won in the top 10 : NO

Project description:  I don't really need to explain anything about the game itself, but maybe I can tell you that this game is part of a project of ASCII Games and Apps for NDS, that has begun a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed making this game and I think ASCII 's fun! It has oldschool sounds et music and a little intro. Everything to be enjoyed by old gamers!

And 'old' gamers WILL enjoy it indeed Wink. Still need to check it out as to what has been done since the last version, I'll let you know how it plays.
All in all, looks pretty cool, like that giant Pacman up there  Afro .

EDIT: Just played it and it is really cool, finally one can finish the level.
Intro and top screen while playing is pretty cool touch. However, music is
a bit..meh, maybe classic pacman sounds would be better?
Also, maybe enlarging the font 2 or even 3 times as level is too big, takes
forever to finish it and its easy to get stuck in the walls.
Eh, a bit of AI for enemies would be cool too. And more levels of course.

Anyhoo, pretty cool game so far, hope to see more of it.
Good luck  Wink .

Nice, this is pretty fun.  I love the ASCII style, especially the top screen.

Two things, though.  Pacman is supposed to continue moving in whatever direction he's moving until he hits a wall.  We shouldn't have to keep holding the dpad to keep him moving.  Also, there should be some sort of warning of when your powerpellet is about to run out.  Maybe make the giant pacman on the topscreen blink a few times before it runs out or something like that.

Pretty cool, though.

Are you planning a whole series of classic remakes using ASCII graphics?  That'd be way cool.
