TTDS broken?

Just got a TTDS with a bundled 2GB MicroSD card ordered from Amazon.de.

The CD was missing from the package so I got the menu 1.07 from this site,
copied it onto the flash card, inserted the card into the adaptor and the adaptor into my new Nintendo DS Light (got it as a Christmas present in the US).
And -- the DS completely ignores the card, it just opens the original menu

I reformatted the memory card, copied various versions of the menu software onto it, inserted and removed the cards multiple times as recommended in some other posts, but nothing helped.

Is there something else I can try or is it best to just send it back to Amazon?

Seems like I am a total newbie,
I went to www.ndstt.com and copied the TTMenu OS 1.07 from there onto my memory card, after I copied the TTMenu folder from the "eng" folder into the base directory it worked.

I wonder if this is the same card as described at this forum, the package I got looks a lot different from what I see in the reviews here.

Damn, seemed to have been a coincidence,
the menu started exactly once, next time I tried the DS stopped recognizing the card again.
Back to square 1

Hi,

I had exactly the same issue. Card arrived yesterday, loaded the files onto memory card and put it in the DS. Everything worked so decided to add some more games. When I put it back in it's not recognised by the DS.

I know it's not the memory card as it works fine on the PC and I've even reformatted and tried again with just the TTDS files and a couple of ROMS.

Any ideas or is it a case of it has just died? Connection fault?

really upset about it to tell the truth.

I tried about 100 times and got it to start 3 times.
Now I found that if I rattle the Card in all directions after I put it into the slot I have a bigger chance of getting it to work.

Points to a contact problem, the TTDS's we got might not be up to the physical spec of the Nintendo DS slot 1, a reason to send it back in my opinion.

I've lost count of the number of times that I have tried mine now with no success. Seems weird it worked once and then not again though. Perhaps something moved in the card after the first time.

I can't see how to take the thing to bits to check contacts. I was unsure if it would be the contacts between the microSD and the TTDS or the TTDS contacts and the inside of the NDS Lite.

All in all a bit pissed off and hoping my M3 Real arrives next week and will get a refund on this. Cheap is good but not at the expense of quality and reliability.

ok so out of the sheer *what the hell*ness I shook my card around in all directions as Melrian said they had done and low and behold it works again.

Definitly a loose connection inside this thing.

So who wants to tell me how to open it up without destroying it and what needs taping in place where!?!

first i would check if the golden fingers (the connection points to the ds) are okay before opening up and maybe clean them a bit.

to open up i believe you have to melt the side's abit or rip it very hard because it's glued together (no screws). inside are no cable's but you can check if everything is solderd good to the solder pads. but you have to know you lose warranty by opening up the TTDS

I've opened it up and there's nothing visible inside to go wrong with these things. The only thing I could think of is that the gold "fingers" as someone put it don't sit forwards enough to make contact inside the DS so I've put a few layers of paper behind that part of the card and put it back together.

It's working at the minute but it really is hit or miss as to whether ot will work on power up. I find if I use a finger nail to pull the card away from the casing for the DS slightly and then power on it works more times than if I don't.

I thought I had figured out how to make it booting,
but now I tried fruitlessly about 50 times again, rattling and pushing in the card in all possible ways,
no fun.

This thing kills my DS and my nerves, practically unusable.

I think I've got mine figured now. If you look down on the NDS as with the cartridge slot facing you then put your nail behind the cart and pull it slightly away from the casing and then power on. Works for mine but I can't figure out how to make it stay like that. Will need to wedge something between the cartridge and the DS housing.

Give it a whirl. Hopefully mine will keep me going until the M3 Real turns up then this one will get glued back together and sent back to the supplier for an exchange or refund.

got mine to work by opening card and folding a piece of paper as a shim at the top on the side opposite of the reader (gold finger side)

Mine started working nearly every time now,
took a week of putting it in and out of the Nintendo DS,
subborn little bugger.

Have read in a few places now people having the same issues. Has been suggested to lightly bend the whole cart in the middle. Didn't seem to do anything for mine, it's still the same.

Am sending it back now my M3 Real's here. It's a shame as I don't like the GUI of the M3 real and it's really slow compared to the TTDS as well.

I've got the same intermittant problem with contacts.  I have lots of game carts and never have had a contact problem before.   It really hurts when you are trying to show off this new technology and the Top Toy won't load.  I'm looking for tech support for this problem as when it does load wat  a great device.

Also...  Soft reset... am I hurting my ds to be hard resetting it so often    I'm growing hair on my palms....  thanks for your reply
