R6 motion menu v3.1.1958 for R6 Silver and Gold [2008-07-12]

history:
* Support the first analog motion contorl in the world on the NDS SLOT-1!  Smiley
* Update the R6 CHEAT CODE database to 2008-07-10 version

the video for r6 gold motion control:

analog motion contorl guide

If you have an R6 gold, you can enjoy motion enhancements with many games and utilities.  You can toggle motion patching by hitting Y.  The top line of the menu indicates what style of motion patch is activated.

There are three types of motion patches:

* D-Pad Digital motion - tilt the DS far enough in any direction, and the direction pad will be hit in this direction.  Useful for games where analog control is not useful.
* D-Pad Analog motion -  tilt the DS a little, the D-pad is pushed a little, tilt a lot and it is held.  The degree of tilt corresponds to the frequency of the pulse.  Useful for things such as racing games, where the degree of tilt corresponds to steering.
* Touchpad Analog motion - game specific - this edition works with Mario 64 (see special note below).

In this version of the menu, some games have conflicts with the motion and saving (when motion patches are available).  If a conflict occurs, you will generally see a save error.  To avoid this problem, hold "select" during the conflicting save portions.  Generally, this is at program startup time.  Holding "select" while starting the rom until you see the rom's title screen will often fix this problem.  Holding "select" is also useful for navigating menus with the analog patch.

CAUTION: backup your save games before trying out motion.  Due to the potential conflicts, if used incorrectly, it can corrupt or remove your save file.  Experiment first with a backed-up save so that you will know the behavior for a specific rom.

Mario 64 motion: This game was originally designed for use with analog control.  Many found the touchpad control awkward.  This motion menu contains a special patch--restoring this game to the originally intended control by substituting the tilt of the DS for the analog stick.  It works with the three methods of control available (selectable in game by hitting start or select).  To activate motion control, hold L, R, or left (whichever is most convenient for your chosen control mode).  You will stop moving when you letting go of the button.  This allows you to readjust the "zero point" of the motion touch panel as well as provide a way to stop moving when you want.  It also allows you to access the touch panel for menus, etc.

Very cool; there doesn't seem to be a way to deactivate motion, though. I tried pressing Y at the menu, but did nothing. The circle still bounced around and it moved when I turned the DS. As a side note, I discovered that I was holding Select at the wrong time, and Pokémon Diamond works perfectly fine with the motion patch enabled, however it doesn't seem to use motion at all. EX: the patch is on, causing save issues, but it doesn't allow me to control with tilting! Another thing: how do I decide between analog and digital control?
Overall I love the updates! sm-29

EDIT: I'd like to point out that Y worked in the last version (v3.1.1932) but not the current one (v3.1.1958, as you can tell by the thread).

EDIT2: I just noticed the words next to (C0) (No Motion, D. Motion, A. Motion). That's pretty clever; now I can enjoy the bouncy circle and still play!

Mario KArt (#168) does not work with motion ANALOGIC or DIGITAL activate, anymore

"the data could not be written, blablablabla"
and we need to turn off ds... and same again, and again... the game only starts with no motion Sad

edit: now rum, but in trial times, was "unable to save ghost data", and, after end of circuit, same error, and need to turn off

re-edit: the trick of select works... but in time trials, noone plays holding select Cheesy

Did the motion work for you without holding select in the older version?  We didn't add anything that should make the save conflicts appear any more than they did before.  You're right that the ghost data has an issue since it actually wants to save while you are racing.  We're working to increase compatibility (ie remove this type of issue).  When we're done you hopefully won't need to ever use the select trick for save issues.

I cant get motion to work on monkeyball, any ideas why? it worked with the 'always on' digital version of the menu.

holdin select at start

but, in time trial, no need to hold select... and no problem in ghost...

Personally, the motion isn't the top thing for me,but...
Little off topic...
I whined enough when my stuff wasn't working,so I thought I'd re-iterate how happy I am that it works now.
Because of my job,I don't get nearly enough time to play, but still...
THANK YOU,NEO-Peoples!!!

well, this flashcard (R6 Gold) costs 2 x more than a Ak2, for example... Almost 2 x more than a EzV or a SC Ds One, 1.5 more than a M3 real... the "differencial" is just(exactly) the motion  Cool

I would agree here, why pay more for a card that, as the main feature offers motion control, when the motion control itself doesn't intrest you? ~sm-43.gif~

[idea] Perhaps it was chosen as a prize in one of the competitions. sm-24

Not quite a prize...
More a reward for faithful devotion(i.e...no,I didn't pay for it-thanks NEO!!!).
I spent hours and hours working with the NEO2(hmmm...)
I actually play my old NES games on NESDs,more than anything!
No Disrespect intended,at all!!!Promise!!!
I've played around with some things with motion control,and it's very,very cool,but I'm just kindof boring,I guess.
Mebbe(subconciously...)my biggest reason is that motion is implemented by homebrew programmers mostly,I guess.I have tried SO hard to get a basic knowledge of coding...and it's just over my head.I'm really smart at the things I'm familiar with(music,mostly...),but when it comes to homebrew programming...
I'M JUST JEALOUS!!!
Props to anyone wrapping their ears around it.Pro'lly yur smarter than you think,'cause I'm pretty smart...swear...and I CAN'T!!!
But no disrespect intended,I swear.
Also,expandable capacity,with a nicely working NEO product,with nothing sticking out.Priceless.
B-Good.

I believe that it uses the exact same ones as the DS Motion, so any references to that are the same. All the DS Motion test apps (as part of nds_examples) work on the R6, so the functions must be the same. I'll fill you in more later, I'm trying to learn to program real goodly so I can win cool stuffz in the summer compo.

As far as I know, the motion functions in ndslib have been unified, so
it will work on ds motion and R6: in fact, its slightly different hardware
and there is a check if its dsmotion or R6/MK6 motion.

So check the sources of ndslib, escecially the motion_init()  in devkitpro for sourcecode how to use the sensors.

Look at this thread: http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=12923
or the complete dsmostion forum: http://forum.gbadev.org/viewforum.php?f=22

Still not able to load any roms using v3.1.1958

Still hope that one day it will work for me too

Here in attachment is what I see on the menu You see mario 64 and moon shell icons.
If you look well and have enough imagination, you will see the shape of mario's head on the mario64 icon.
If I select the game both screen become white and it freeze
