Balik Bayan DevWifi - Develop fast with wifi
« on: August 20, 2008, 11:55:11 PM »
Nickname: Soulanger / Filipino Brewed Coffee
Project name : Balik Bayan DevWifi
From : Philippines (lufet!)
Division : NDS APP
Original entry : YES
Support Motion :Yes
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : NO

Snapshot although, looks better on motion
Description:
BB DevWifi lets you send files on your pc to your ds via wifi and then automatically runs it. This would certainly help fellow developers.
You can also send normal files, then ignores about running it.
It saves the file to the /_soulanger/receivedFiles/ folder.
I have added motion so could toy the background for a bit.
Sorry for non-windows users the server was made only for windows.

There is also a defaultIP.txt that you can edit, that would make your sending easier and faster.

How to use:
1. Extract all files to your root.
2. Run the server. (Balik Bayan Server.exe)
3. Copy your ip adress below the start server. 192.168.x.xxx or similar.
4. Goto your sdcard:_soulanger
5. The open defaultIP.txt with your notepad.
6. Erase 192.168.1.109 and change it with your ip address here.
7. Now put your sd card in your cart then run Balik Bayan DevWifi.nds
8. Dont do anything yet
8. Go back to the server. (Balik Bayan Server.exe)
9.  Then press start server.
10. If the window freezes it would now wait for your ds to enter.
11. Go back to your ds make sure that the ip is correct then tap enter or press A.
12. If you have done correctly the server would now stop freezing, and display, "Recieved...hi server!! "
12.1. Note "Connection successfull" does not confirm if it got in. I got an error the last minute so i wasnt able to fix it.  :-\ The only confirmation is that the freezing is gone.
12.2. If you did not connect correctly you can always press B to return.

13. You can now drop n drop files to the server, or browse then upload.
14. If its an nds file it would automatically run. If not you can sent another file.

Enjoy. :)

I sent the link before editing the description would that be okay?

The server is using .net  :-\ so sorry. Also for windows users you need to have .net frame work to use it.

OK. I really think you should update your description to include the fact that it is windows only.

That's not avvaible for winxp, but with a little coding you can make it run on win.
Than i've in plan to make it boot the downloaded file. so ... i'll code it in the next day as soon as i feel better  ~sm-39.gif~

Actually, it is fairly easy to make the server Linux compatible if it isn't already.  The most important thing is not to use P/Invoke, not even for something as trivial as playing sound as mono will throw a fatal exception if it encounters any Win32 API calls.  After that, it is mainly simple things like not choking if forward slashes instead of backslashes are used for path names.  Oh, other Windows specific features (except gdi+ and windows.forms) should be avoided as well, there should be a list of things to avoid at http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page .

I've build an application server for the ds that wait for connection and a *nix application that connect and send a file. After the send is complete the you can continue sending file or boot the one you sent.
I've to speed-up the comunication [1 char at time is too slow!] so a few day and i'll release it!

Stay close!

hmmm, dont mean to be rude. But this thread is for this homebrew "BB Devwifi".  ~sm-39.gif~
I wonder how the author feels if somehow somebody is saying that he has the same concept and is being executed by this somebody..
Forgive me but I think this isnt the thread to talk about -your- homebrew.
Again, I'm sorry if i sound so rude.

I talk here cause may be you are interested in this and we can cooperate to made one unified software. Also i'll release source code so you can take a look at this.

IMO this isn't commercial software.  ;D

anyhow i'm sorry  :-\

To take some clarity, are you interested? if not, i can delete the post.
