Legion (&Legion Online) - Updated
« on: August 20, 2008, 11:55:26 AM »

IMPORTANT
The game has been updated on the 20th, at 11:55PM GMT+2. Everyone who has downloaded it before that time should redownload it. (same link) This goes for both Legion AND Legion Online files. Thank you.

Nickname: Smealum (code), lobo(gfx, storyline, dialogs), zeblackos
Project name : Legion (Online)
From : France and USA
Division : NDS Game
Original enter : NO (MAJOR UPDATES)
Support Motion : NO
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : YES (3rd)
Project description: Legion is a top-view 3D shooter which was designed to take full advantage of the DS's unique features. It has a full solo "campaign", with a very detailed backstory as well as an online multiplayer mode which can be played with up to three other players. (4 player games)

The game features :
- A complete storyline with a very complete background world.
- Humouristic writing with CHAP's random sentences.
- Completely original graphics all made by Lobo.
- Completely original music composed by ZeBlackos.
- 4 difficulty modes (Easy, Normal, Hard, A cup of Tea)
- 3 unlockable weapons.
- 12 full solo maps.
- 8 online maps.
- 4 player online games.
- 3 different online game modes (deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag)
- 13 skins to choose from when playing online.
- Vehicle driving !
- Different solo map objectives and boss fights !
- A particle engine used to render blood.
- A MiniMap on the top screen which shows you your enemies' position in real time and your objectives.
- A compass that helps you find your way.
- A health indicator which shows up when you shoot an enemy.
- A lock on aiming system.
- A website where you can follow your stats in real time as well as server status.

All credits are within the game itself in the credits section, but I would personnally like to thank Lobo for his great work and efficiency on this project. Cheesy

How to play :
Solo :
- D-PAD/ABXY to move
- Stylus to aim
       - Double tap stylus on enemy : lock on
       - Double tap stylus on Brutus : toggle crouch
- Select to bring up weapon mod menu
- Start to put the game on pause
- R/L to shoot.
       - R/L close to an enemy will make Brutus punch him
Online :
- D-PAD/ABXY to move
- Stylus to aim
       - Double tap stylus on Brutus : toggle crouch
- Select switch weapons
- Start to disconnect from the server and go back to main menu
- R/L to shoot.

Download links (sorry, the files are too big to upload them on the forum  ~sm-39.gif~) :
Legion (Solo)
Legion (Online)

Please Note : the online mode for this game has been fully tested with four players without any problems. It is possible that issues will appear because of a high ping. The main server is located in France, so anyone too far away might have trouble playing. The only way to resolve this is to make you're own server in your country. That is why I have included the windows and linux binaries for Legion Online's server. The server automatically connects to the main listing server which will make your own server visible and accessible to everyone playing the game. Also, it is recommended that you do not download these binaries from any other website than smealum.net (or a big website you trus like gbatemp.net, as long as the file has been posted by an admin or something) as they may be altered by ill-intended people.
Also, the server runs by default on port 4235. I included a .bat which should show you how to use the server's arguments.

Installing Legion : Legion/Legion Online needs to be DLDI patched. The rom can be placed anywhere on your card, however, the legion/legiononline directory must be placed at your card's root.

I believe that's it. If you have ANY question at all, please ask, I'll try to answer as accurately as possible.

Have fun playing !

Cry Cry Cry I get white screens on my R4 for the single player game Cry Cry Cry
And for multiplayer, i reach to the main screen, can change skins, and when i hit "play", and it sticks at "Aunthentifying as #mhk..."

My firmware is V1.18, i didnt dldi patch it cos R4 supports auto DLDI patching...

What else can it be?

That seems weird. I only tested my game on  my M3 DS Simply, which is an R4 clone, so it should work. I would have asked if you have put the legion directory at your card's root, but if the multiplayer menu and everything  works, that can't be the problem...

Thank you.
Legion and Legion online have been updated. This update repairs the bug in the credits menu (which i had no knowledge of before about 30 minutes ago) and a bug with nick registration in Legion Online. Please redownload it. (same link)

@mhk : it's normal to have a white screen for a few seconds when launching Legion. It shouldn't be too long before you see a "Legion" screen appear, but still, that time is noticeable. how long have you waited ?
There's no reason why it wouldn't work on an R4 since I also use and R4 for my tests...

I´ll download it again, and will try to connect again and everything...
If I get white screens again, I´ll see how long do they take in white and tell you Wink ~sm-42.gif~ ~sm-42.gif~ ~sm-42.gif~

Well... now I can play solo mode, i like the story a lot, and the illustrations are great^^ it reminds me quite a lot to the Fallout saga looks. Congrats for the great job!

In multiplayer mode it stucks at the same place, but now it says "authenticating as #mhk?HuhHuhHuhHuh? KissHuhHuh??........
