Nickname : ThemePark
Project name : Neko DS
From : Denmark
Division : NDS APP
Original enterty : Depends on whether you consider a port of an old program original.
Support Motion : No
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : No
Project description: A port of an old PC app where a cat will run around the screen and follow your mouse.

I proudly present my first real project: Neko DS.

Neko DS (Neko being the Japanese word for cat) is a port of an old PC application back from the 80's. When run, you would have a cat on your screen who would chase your mouse cursor around, scratch on the screen, take a nap and various other stuff.

Since this application has always been very close to my heart, I decided to try and port this to the DS.

This is only a very simple beginning of what I intend to end of with, but fully functional none the less. In the future I want to have the sprites incorporated into the NDS via EFS, have the user being able to choose between different Nekos from EFS and FAT, and perhaps as a last update be able to have several Nekos running around on the screen.

I hope you will enjoy this application as much as I have over the years.

Hah! I've played with this before...but not in Windows.  What the hell was that?  It was a homebrew for some system...maybe Neo Geo Pocket?

I didn't get it that time.  This time, with some context and stylus input, it finally makes sense!  And I love it.

It really makes me wish the DS had multi-threading support so that I could run this on top of of all my games and always have the crazy neko chasing my stylus.

...word is bondage...

The Windows version was also a port. Wikipedia says that the original Neko was written for an NEC PC.

While the DS doesn't have multi-threading support (never knew this, but then again I never thought about it), what you mention is essentially what I have in mind for the final release.

Wow.... Two danish apps (Neko and sDepS) in the competition! Who would have thought! Such a small country but so much talent (Wanted to put a smiley here, but the penguins(?) mean nothing to me).
