SNES Flash Cards are out here

Neoflash is too slow. Mash-Mods has an SNES flash cart with a USB programmer for sale now.

I am reading up on the NEO2-SD  SPEC

the are two points I have to bring up

* Build in 128M Zip RAM,support compressed ROM
and
* NEO2-SD support SD/Mini-SD/MicroSD(TF)/MMC/RS-MMC, up to 4GByte

Am I Right in thinking that you can put all your SNES roms in .Zip
on the SD card and the rom will be uncompressed to the neo2 when
you run it.

2nd SD up to 4GByte is this a SDHC memory card or a non SDHC that are so hard to get now.
if it's a SDHC how come the is no 8GB/16GB/32GB support

will that Mash-Mods flash cart work using a SWC DX or only by using
the Mash-Mods USB programmer. ::sm-21.gif::

sorry this post is meant for this topic.

It looks like that mash-mods cart only holds one game at a time, so you have to reprogram it every time you want to switch games.  Plus, you have to buy the programmer separately, so it's not as cheap as it looks at first.  I think with the recent release of the MD Myth, and working prototypes of the N64 cartridge out, that this project probably isn't vaporware either.  So I'll wait it out.

If I see a SNES flash cart that loads from SD media though, I may have to jump ship.

Yeah I saw that.  It uses standard CF media, which is a big, big, BIG plus.  Is the Neo cart going to have any features the PowerPak SNES doesn't? Say maybe SA-1 support by plugging in a passthrough cart?  Hell I'd be willing to solder one in myself if it came to it.

I'm patient, I can wait for the Neo cart.  But I'd really like to hear from team Neo why I should choose their cart over the PowerPak.

The game is pretty much over for Neoflash now. The Myth cart restricted it's potential by being forced to work with Neo2 carts. The Powerpak is a superior product based on the information that is available.

I'm not sure all is lost. I've been very pleased with the regular software updates we've received for the menu.   Providing the source is a major plus for Neoflash.  I would really like to see the USB driver opened or the protocol documented though, so support for the device could be added to other operating systems (Linux).

If Neoflash included the Neo2SD with the upcoming SNES flash cart that would go a long way towards mitigating the advantage the PowerPak has with CF media.  Of course, they'd have to be competitive on price as well.

If they can do these things, I will stick with neoflash.  I'd really like to.
