I think the DS one got messed up though

Pretty nice! , i don't think that the NDS look that bad.
If you cold scale a bit that plant in the top right corner of the bottom screen it would be even
more kickass!

Neither

My Photoshop is broken, so I'm using Fireworks

The reason why I ask is because if you did (and maybe it's the same with Fireworks) you should be able to adjust the layers quite easily.

Does Fireworks use layers and if so did you maintain a source file for your image?

It does layers, but I dont have the source files for all... except ds

It's going over two screens, so I hope it might look better

Those are really awesome  You've got some nice drawing skill  .

I solved the 'two screen' problem by creating one 256x432 image (192 + 192 + 48 [screen gap]), then cropping it to two 256x192 images. It seemed to work fine (at least, I think   ).

Still beats yours. 

Sorry to be blunt, but it just seems like you're just insulting the competition when you obviously didn't take that picture yourself, or 'digitally paint' the tree. If people want to use brushes or renders in their entries, I think thats just fine; It seems that you've no shortage of effects in your splash. I'm pretty sure by comments the authors were looking for Constructive criticism. Go look it up.
