Hi Guys, Here is my application entry for the Neoflash coding competition. Since there are no other entries yet, it looks like I'm first so far.
Nickname: Art Project name : AVEC From : Australia Division : PSP APP Original entry : YES Support Motion : NO In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : NO
Description: AVEC V2 GPS Vector Map Viewer for PSP

AVEC is a Vector map viewer capable of displaying and navigating maps in the common Polish format maps. The 1.50 kernel version can also receive location from a GPS device and display your location on the map. If the map file has street information, the program tells you what street you are in, or lookup the name of a street selected with the crosshair.
The 1.50 version should be installed to GAME150. If you have a GPS setup for MapThis! it will be compatible since it uses the same GPS routines. The newer firmwares version should be installed to PSP/GAME352 or PSP/GAME5xx, etc.

You can't test the GPS feature, but you can still load a map, pan around / zoom in & out, etc. You can test street lookup with one of the example maps too.
With the right map you could navigate without a GPS.
Use the newer firmwares version if you don't have a GPS device.
EDIT,,, I've just doubled the performance by doing the line and poi search at the same time. I wish I'd done that before the first release. I might get a faster one up.

Thanks
I've upated the links to the faster version. I don't intend for the entry to be version specific, but I guess the date the entries close for the comp would be the deadline for any new features to count.

This is a really really great homebrew , and its fun to play around the map. The only downside is that if you zoom out too much the rendering can take some time , other than that its great

Looks like Photobucket sold out and imposed a bandwidth limit. I have edited the original post with images hosted by Flickr. Art.

I haven't updated the links since the deadline, but I have improved speed by many times. just to show how V3 is going, here is a real time in-car navigation demo:

Thanks for your comments, and great review I made the annoying sound and option to turn it off too
Did a "Find Place by Name" feature with auto complete text entry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LyuvBK60M4
When does the competition end anyway? Art.
