Want to add the RETRO divison for all retro video game consoles?

In the next NEO compo, will consider to remove the PSP division and add the RETRO divison for all retro video game consoles,like :
SEGA MK III
NES
PC-E
GENESIS
SNES
N64
......
and other old console not in this list, have APP and GAME 2 zones like before.

 what so you think? 
please tell us your idea

I think that the PSP division is getting really weak every year , with a few exceptions of course !.

The retro division idea is so great , that i might actually code something for the comp  .

Maybe you should host PSP division contest once every year , and same with retro.
I think this will balance the quality of homebrew apps/games.

Do you want to remove the PSP division to add indeed a retro division? Sorry, I'm a PSP developer, for me this is a very bad idea...

Another good solution might be to have a general PSP division for both apps and games , and one for Retro consoles.

So there will be 3 divisions , but the 2 of them will be 2 in 1 with 10 entries in the finals.

NDS app division
NDS game division
PSP general division
Retro general division

Another idea is to have the above system , but for PSP and RETRO , the first 4 or 5 winners can choose cash or maybe top prizes to balance it a bit.

If the retro division is successful then repeat it every year , if not , once a year.


...Just a couple more ideas since i don't see yet anyone suggesting some  and i feel
productive   .

I think you should keep the psp part, and meybe allow retro as a test. I'm not sure there will be many retro entries, but also, I don't know anything about retro coding.

I'd love a retro comp to support the retro coders. I'm not sure if I can finish a project for a retro system but good luck to those who can.  One cool thing about retro games is the ability to play them on emulators and there are many retro emulators for most of the portable systems.

I'd like to see a Nintendo Wii section.  That seems popular to develop for these days and much easier than coding for the old systems.  It would surely get many entries.

When having a retro-section I dont think APPs would be good...
Applications on a console without mouse or so isn't that lucrative, just see the PSP: Apps section is getting emptier and emptier.

As a compromise I would take those sections for the next time:
- Retro-Console Games
- PSP Games
- NDS Games
- NDS Apps

From my viewpoint i have to agree that the crazy days of PSP releases are over for now and i also have to agree that supporting retro consoles would be an awesome idea

i would have 3 contests

PSP Games and Apps - Prizes for Top 10
NDS/GBA Games and Apps - Prizes for top 15
Retro Games and Apps - Prizes for Top 10

in the retro section supporting the 32x would be great too, it would please a certain coder over at DCEmu.

The retro coding comp would be awesome in the fact that all the software could be used on your impending flash carts. (the snes and n64 excite me to the point where i cant hold on )

I think you should keep the PSP APP and PSP GAME sections as it is.

After all, there is only 10 prizes possible.

You can make the DS sections 5 prizes each as well then you can make a new section called RETRO. That way, everything is the same as before and a new one comes out.

Actually right now there are 15 PSP prizes (10 for games and 5 for apps).

That way, it includes retro consoles, plus all the new ones.  Just my thought

but how can the judges have every console rigged to play homebrew.

A little too hard to review. Especially with the graphics.  Its  too biased for Retro consoles.
