Want to add the RETRO divison for all retro video game consoles?

I think it's a good idea. PSP homebrew has been dying off, and some retro homebrew would be really cool. Especially since there are emulators for most of the consoles you listed, people can play the submissions on their computers, or in some cases their own game consoles! This way, more people can play the entries. On the other hand, not many people can play the entries on the system they were designed for...

I'd love a retro comp to support the retro coders. I'm not sure if I can finish a project for a retro system but good luck to those who can.  One cool thing about retro games is the ability to play them on emulators and there are many retro emulators for most of the portable systems.

I'd like to see a Nintendo Wii section.  That seems popular to develop for these days and much easier than coding for the old systems.  It would surely get many entries.

They have Wii Clips on the store but I don't know if that is a big product for them and you don't need to buy it to run Wii homebrew (all you need is an SD card and a software expoit).  It's up to Dr.neo, the Wii was the 1st prize in the 2007 competition, so I  think he has some interest in that console.

Of course with the retro carts, the retro consoles are the main interest.

Maybe you could also include in the rules that the Neoflash Forums should be the only release point for entries whilst they enter the comp, that way more visitors and ensure that everyone knows the comp is alive

i think that removing the psp division is a bad idea(i'm a psp developer  )

instead i think that a resize of all section and create new competition section is a very good idea!!

Sounds good.  Will the app and games be competing against each other in same catagory or will they have 5 prizes each?

If the Wii or Retro section don't get 10 entries, can the prizes be given distributed to other sections?  I hope they do get more than 10 entries each but you never know.

Hmm wouldn't this double the top prizes? 2x top prizes / division + 2 new divisions is +50% extra costs  ,  ...but again , only Dr.Neo can answer that.

Imagine if:

There are 4 Retro Entries. (So only 4 of the ten prize slots are used. 6 left)
There are 8 PSP Entries. (So only 8 of the ten prize slots are used. 2 left)
There are 13 Wii Entries. (So all ten of Wii's prize slots are used)
There are 15 NDS Entries (So all ten of DS' prize slots are used)

The eight prizes that WOULD have gone to PSP and Retro entries (but cannot because not enough people entered) could go to the categories that had entries in excess. (The extra Wii and NDS entries) It wouldn't cost Dr. Neo anything more than he already allocated for the contest. The only problem is that if there were more than 40 collective entries and one or more categories was not filled, each "leftover" prize from a category would have to go to an entry from a separate category which means a NDS game might have to be judged against a Wii game. Let's say there's an extra prize from retro, and there's an extra Wii game, and an extra DS game. Who gets it? Is it fair to give it to the Wii game because it uses Wii's power to do things the DS could never pull off? That's the only issue I see though, and at that point when there's two completely last place entries gunning for an extra prize, the loser shouldn't complain regardless since they got dead last in their own category anyway and should be happy they even got a second chance.
