Of course I am not sure if it is an issue of the program or just an incompatibility with the chipset of my computer. All I can say is that I do use Windows XP 32bit!
I will have a test at a different computer tomorrow!

Hello everyone,

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit and never had any problems related to formatting the card or it being recognized.

I even tried a few times to pull the usb cable out while it was formatting, in order to try to recreate the problem you have.

But I never got any error message. In fact the game was even listened, although I formatted the card for 25%.

Anyway, are you sure that this is an issue of the program / the cart and not your computer?

Its not an issue with cart-attached slimloader IV but with external.

Stefan_iro,if you're talking about cart-attached slimloader , then its 100% issue with the usb cable.If you got the yellow , then get another high quality cable.

I also bricked my Neo2 512MB cart. 

Neo Menu V2.95 just crashes right after starting if the bricked Neo2 512MB cart is plugged, V2.98 and 2.99 just give the "USB Device Error! Please replug USB device and try fresh again!"

I'm using Win XP 32bit SP3, tried it on three different XP PCs and also used different usb cables and different usb ports.

My Neo2 SD Cart formats just fine, but until the SD Menu is released it is kinda useless.

Does anyone that bricked his Neo2 512MB cart also uses Avira Antivir as Antivirus program?
Because normally I disable Antivir before I flash or format but this time I just forgot it, Antivir popped its stupid virus warning and my Neo2 was bricked since then.

About unbricking, are there any pins I can short on the Neo2 512MB cart to recover it or something like that?

You could try formatting it to MD using madmonkey's command line writer and then see if you can format it to N64 with the official software. You have to install libusb to use madmonkey's writer.

My Neo 512mbit carts also don't work everytime but Neo 2 SD 512mbit is still working.

Formating is at 25% complete right now, seems to work, what a nice application.
I will report back as soon as it finishes.  

Edit: It finished formating and found 4 bad blocks, 0001, 0002, 0511 and 0512.

neotest now says:
menu size: 2MB
sram size: 128KB
flash size: 64MB

free space: 64MB

used flashspace: 0B
bad blocks: 512KB
free flash space: 63MB 512KB
space saved: 0B

The Neo2 Ultra Menu App V2.99 still gives the USB device error when formating

Sanni you should try to do low level format on another machine.
In the mean time you can use your NEO2SD 512Mb to burn roms.

I tried to format it with Neo2 Ultra Menu V2.93 and now it works again. 
Before I was using 2.95, 2.98 and 2.99.

So for all that have problems with formating, did you try V2.93?
After formating with V2.93 it also works again in V2.99
