on-board CIC and DSP possible?
« on: February 28, 2010, 10:11:43 AM »
The Nintendo 64 Myth is able to solder the CIC directly to the cart, so that there is no need for a boot cartridge.

The SNES Myth also has spare places. Is it possible to solder the CIC and DSP directly to the cart similar to the SNES PowerPak?

I'm sure you could wire in a DSP1 somehow as a mod to the device if you know how the unit technically works like maybe a schematic or reverse engineering it, but you'd want to be able to switch off the DSP1 as well. I remember copiers with DSP1 built in every once in a while had issues with a few games if the feature was turned on.  It may just be better to keep it as an external.  The hardware is already there poking out the back.
