NeoMythMenu Deluxe v2.1
« on: April 03, 2010, 05:47:55 AM »
Here's the next version of the deluxe menu. New to this version is the ability to use Game Genie cheats, and IPS patch files. Conle did the code for this (with a little debugging help by yours truly), so let's all give Conle a big hand for his work here.

As per the previous deluxe menu, burn this to flash using madmonkey's Neo Myth writer using the command line

Code: [Select]
neocmd -iot menu -w MDBIOS.BIN
You can find it here.

Thanks for your huge support and for the detailed explanation of the menu's internal stuff so that this code
could be embedded without looking like a hack   ~sm-77.gif~.gif :D.Also i should mention that you fixed the ips code to override the bugged 1byte psram writes  ~sm-73.gif~.gif  ~sm-75.gif~.gif .

Now im preparing a quick tutorial thread regarding the dxcheat script format & also that thread could be used as a database or something  ~sm-67.gif~.gif

Edit : Also a thanks to madmonkey for the idea to enumerate the entries & for some sample cheat codes that helped me alot  :)

That would be good to have. Now that cheats and patches are supported, you KNOW the first post will be asking where to find cheats and patches for this, that, or the other thing.  :D

PAR codes are just hex codes, which are supported. GG codes are NNNN-MMMM, while hex codes are NNNNNN:MMMM.

As long as they don't require action replay VM running & are not AR VM patch-type cheats they will work with this version of the menu.

nice work!

just want to point out:
Code: [Select]
neocmd -iot menu -w MDBIOS.BIN
this command will delete whatever entries were on flash
use this to preserve entries
Code: [Select]
neocmd --menu MDBIOS.BIN"replace menu" option from the gui app also works.
of course, it doesn't matter if there are no entries on flash :)

No , but ChillyWilly is working on it.Plus now he's aware about the odd bug in the core and he should
find a way to do the implementation.  ~sm-67.gif~.gif  ::sm-23.gif::

Thanks! I didn't realize that had been added. That makes it even easier.  ;D

I have LFN support running and have sent a copy to Conle to help with testing. It will probably be out within the day. So you can look forward to v2.2 soon.  8)

Typically I count decrypted Game Genie codes as hex codes and PAR codes as, well, PAR codes. :P

From what I was told, PAR codes are just the address and data values in plain hex. Note that hex codes starting with FF are in the ram and therefore not applicable to cheats for the game - we don't have any facility for cheats other than patching the rom. The GG and PAR had special hardware that intercepted reads to ram so they could return their own values for cheats... we can't do that.
