Modcase from our forums put up an interesting link in our irc channel not too long ago. Apparently darkplanets.co.uk will be selling Datel’s newest product, the Datel 4GB PSP Hard Drive. It seems this will include a 4GB hard drive built into the Datel X2 3600mAh battery. Here is what they say will be the features and what’s in the box:

Datel 4GB PSP Hard Drive - Features:
- 4Gb of HDD storage
- 3600mAh X2 battery power
- Max media get connected cable and software

What's In The Box:
– 1 x PSP 4GB Hard Drive Bundle

According to darkplanets this will be released on October 20th with a price of £149.99 ($265 US).

This is BS I ain't paying 265 note for this! Also, it looks like its time to get the converter out to sale cuz Datel is nipping at your heels....

Less than a 2gb pro duo? Where in god's name are you looking at pro duo cards? Lately they have been on sale for under $150US and $200US retail at MOST.

Ribbion cable off MS connector to usb 2.0 dongle or UMD door mount.

By looking at the new images for lik-sang, datel hdd modul is actually CF to MS converter, kind of the one developed here...but not designed to have changeable media...

No, it is actually a mini HDD however its robbery to sell it to anyone, and sittin like 2cm from the normal PSP
it would be stupid to buy it it looks dumb as!

Good on you doctor neo! You got the idea right! Now everyone should spread the word about dr. neo's
idea and its soon to be released date ... set them on the right path people, paying 200 for a CF is robbery!

It looks like the same principle.  If they start selling the 4gb without the actual 4gb for $50 and let people fit it with a 6gb microdrive that would be  awesome.  Neo's on the other hand will hopefully have usb host support.      I've have (2) 512mb, (2) 1gig currently and (1) 2gig pro duo still on order.  I pre ordered the datel device because it's shipping this month.  I will also be anticipating with high hopes for neo's release.

The liksang review of the datel 4GB hdd says that the 6gb microdrive they tested it with WOULDNT work with the PSP (but it was fine when in USB mode) meaning that for extra large storage capacity the NEO-MS converter is much better.

Well, just notice in other forums that the official price of the Datel 4G HDD/X2 Battery kit will be $199 US, this is looking very promising.  Only drawback is this kit does work with the 6G Microdrive in USB mode, but not for PSP use...I would like to know the full testing scenerio...

I would really love to have the NEO-MS, but need the extra storage NOW.  So it looks I'll probably pick up the Datel kit for now.  Possible option would be to mod the Datel with a True CF socket and slot in the case so you could have removable CF storage (that would be a plus) even if it maxes out at 4G, but then, it would be cheaper to do the MS DUO PRO Converter and use the 4G PRO most likely...

Enough of my rambles... :)
