Neo2 Pro Manager 1.11 error when "N64 U2 writting"
« on: March 19, 2011, 06:57:50 AM »
Hi all and thanks in advance for my question.

I spend many hours trying to find a solution and now I need you...  ~sm-33.gif~

There is many behavior in the Neo2ProManager I don't understand, nothing is very clear on what it do. But this is not my problem.

I have a Neo2Pro with SD (no SD in my prob) Win7 x64

When I format then reboot the manager, I've got this:

Boot type: Type A2 N64 menu
BIOS A-1: "nothing"
BIOS A-2: A path to menu 2.2

It is strange, I just format and there is still something in my card... Don't understand...

I click burn and I've this:

MENU Writting
N64 U2 reading 100%
N64 U2 writting... (this stay few seconds) 5.00%
Burn N64_U2_MENU BIOS 'c:\NEON64.v64' failed!
USB Device Time out! Please re-plug the USB devive and try again!

Any way I do, either manager don't work, either I have this message.

I've done many thing (reboot, replug, format, etc...) this doesn't work.

And (and this is a thing I really don't understand) when I launch it in my N64, the menu wich start is 1.6, the old one (even after format! o_O)

I just want to put the 2.2 menu to the card but I really don't success...

I'd follow a youtube tutorial (the one with zelda wallpaper) but I have this strange usb message.

Someone understand where I'm wrong? Any idea?

Thanks in advance, I'm very  :'(

The Windows drivers have "issues" getting them to work right in new versions of Windows. You might try setting up an old XP in a virtual machine. I keep XP installed on an old laptop for use in running stuff that doesn't like newer Windows.

I had try to install XP32 with Virtual Box but it doesn't work too, same prob... :'(

I suppose this is because it need the Win7 x64 Drivers to work and this drivers are broken...

My laptop is my work laptop. I can't install Xp on it. ::sm-02::

Is Neo  Team aware about the prob with Win7 x64 drivers? I can test new driver for them if they want...

Another solution? I have a dual boot linux but I don't know if there is a way to use Wine with the Manager... ::sm-03::

Sorry for disturb. I just want to make my hardware work.  :(

Try to install the 64bit drivers manually from the directory that the programmer is installed(in c:\program files x86\..) , that's what i always do because nothing will work without doing this step.
Also even with VM on x64 you won't have any luck , unfortunately....

Edit : Oh , and don't forget to run the application as administrator otherwise it will crash.

Thanks for answer.

I already install via Driver/Xp_Later/amd64. There is no "windows prob" (warning message etc...) so I suppose the drivers are well installed.

I try to install the menu running the manager as admin but this doesn't change anything.... :'(

Is there another way to install the menu than use the Manager?

Nobody have with Win7 x32/x64 here? I'm suprise to be alone with this prob. ~sm-43.gif~

Thanks in advance for help. :-X

Sorry, I never updated past XP because Windows and Microsoft in general  suck so bad. I use linux for everything but one or two things which work better on XP than Vista or W7 anyway. I've seen no reason to spend more on Windows only to have more trouble. The only reason ANYONE would use W7 is it came on the computer they bought or a game REQUIRES it for no apparent reason. I refuse to buy games that REQUIRE Vista or W7 on general principles, so there's no reason to buy Vista or W7.

What do they give you? A fancier interface that requires a video card that can play Crysis at 2048x1536 at 180 FPS? More driver problems? DRM that makes it almost impossible to play your music or videos? Sorry, not for me.

You might try madmonkey's open source flashing app. Some folks have better luck with that then the official client. I use that on linux quite often.

I do have Win7-x64 but in the latest releases pretty much nothing works anymore for me aswell(even the firmware updater) .
I have tried to install the client on a VM under windows7 x64 but doesn't work so i have installed windows xp under a virtual envieroment on my Debian dev distro which works....

@CW

I'm agree with you. But to be honest I didn't pay for my Win7 licence...

I don't like the new "Woaw" heavy Windows UI... But XP was **** too, creating very fragemented data, etc... I have a new good config that's why I've changed.

Is it you wich work on drivers? (Just reading you, I have this feelling :) )

I have a dual boot (Win/Linux) because I need Win mainly for work with propriate software.

In general, I prefere a well documented cmd line tool than a heavy GUI.

So if you could give me some simple lines/links on how flashing menu with madmonkey app and help me to start to use it myself, it will be grateful! :)

@Sektor

Really? With the Manager v1.11? ~sm-66.gif~.gif

@Conle

So there is a old version wich work weel? It's only the new one wich is bad? I will try that!

It seems to be normal that XP on VM work on a linux distro because I suppose this is due to the driver wich are good on linux and not on Win7 (Not sur of my affirmation).

I will try another version and hope it work...

I will also see on the madmonkey side. But if could just paste simple line you use to do simples things this could help me a lot!

Anyway, thanks for your support guys! ;)

The only things I've worked on so far are the menus. Madmonkey is they go-to guy for the open source client, and I have no idea who works on the official client.

Well, I do work on the toolchains used for the menus and example programs as well, but still nothing to do with the Windows software.  8)

Fail all the line... :(

Manager v1.06 doesn't work more on Win7 x64.

I've compile "neocmd" from svn source on linux but I've got this message:

"device is connected, but not recognized".

So the usb part is good but it not recognize the hardware...

In the readme it talk about unpack plugInfoDB_01.7z to "~/.neoMythProgrammer/". I've done that but this don't seem to work. :'(

I really don't know how do much... :'(

After some hack, the neocmd and neoMythProgrammer work! :D

But:

Code: [Select]
narann@narann-desktop ~/Bureau/neo-myth-programmer-read-only/bin $ ./neocmd --format

When I launch my Neo2 Pro without SD, I have the old menu (1.6) wich from I can start other menu (from the sd) but I would like to clearly format my card...

Is my cart "broken"? :(

right now the client is the most (maybe only) problematic thing, if we look back in topics about trouble like 90% is client related.
