Judging?
« on: August 20, 2012, 04:11:36 AM »
Hello!
I am just wondering how judging will be done this year. In past years there was a division for reviews. But this time, I didn't see anything mentioning that.

So will Dr. Neo himself be testing all entries and judging or how will this work?

We should make a list of working emulators testers can use in case they don't have the real system.

I'll start with the N64:

System - Emulator Name - Download
N64 - MESS - Download MESS Download N64 Bios

I'd recommend BSNES for SNES entries, and Mednafen for PC-Engine.

The N64 BIOS for MESS link above doesn't work. I've attached it here.

I use Mednafen for number of older consoles. I use real hardware when I can, but some folks forget to check their homebrew on real hardware (or can't check it) and it doesn't work except on emulators.

Stella is probably best for A2600 stuff.

No$gba might be a little better, but it's Windows. For Mac/nix folks, DeSmuME is probably better.

Definitely not ZSNES for the SNES... and I don't even use it in the first place because I'm on the wrong type of computer!  ~sm-34.gif~

I use SNES9X 1.53, but I would recommend bsnes (however, I can't use the latest version due to a platform incompatibility) just to get as close to the real hardware as possible without actually playing it on the real hardware.  ::sm-21.gif::

Is there any estimated time frame so we know when the results might be released, or is it just however long it takes the judges get done judging?
