I just got an MK2, I can mount my card, I can see the rom(s), it shows the thumbnail...
When I select one to load it goes through the "press a to load" process.
I then get two white screens, sometimes followed by two black screens, but the rom wont actually load.
All the 64MB roms I have tried do this, while some smaller roms load just fine, although they crash frequently.
My card is 128mb (lexar), Im thinking slow media... any other ideas?
thanks
EDIT: also, I have found that a rom flashed from SD through the MK2 menu to the cart does not boot, although the same rom (after gst patcher) runs from the cart when flashed from the PC (with Neo Power Kit).
Bad flash to cart because of slow SD media?
-
you can see the games working in te compatibility list in the first post of the forum...
and remember some games load more time and you see two white screen from 10 to 20 secs
-
Im using roms known to work in the list (checked that out b4 posting)... and Im waiting several minutes for it to boot.
The light on the MK2 will flash a few times brightly, then turn on dimly for a second and then turns off and the screens remain white, or sometimes turn black when the light on hte mk2 turns off.
Going to exchange my card this weekend, will report of it works correctly witha different SD card (going with sandisk).
-
My issues WERE media related. I purchased a 60x sandisk UltraII SD card (9mbps). All the roms I have tried load fine (some with a little slowdown).
Shy away from cheap media with this device.

I have a silver NDS, with magic key 3. I have further a MyFlash 60x Adata sd-card.
I have the following problem: I can see the roms/homebrew on my sd-card but the problem is,
when I start one I have every time the same kind of problem:
I have every time two white screens (in all the menus). Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot.
-
have you trying formatting the card then trying? Also which roms or homebrew have you tried becuse some just don't work when running from sd card.

I tried many roms and homebrew , further I formated, the sd-card with FAT 16
I tried about 20-30 roms and I always have two white screens, also with the hombrewgames at the neo-flash homepages (neo contest).
have anyone, any ideas, or any help to get all this working?
-
Why am I not able to flash more than 128 MB in one time to the flash card? (with the neo powerkit and a 1GB flashcard)? You must burn all roms/homebrew in one time, otherwise you have problems (DarkFather menu).
-
What Rom are you trying to load?
Try loading Nintendogs that has a faster load time than other games.
Sometimes you have to wait 5 mins for the game to load and all you get is 2 white screens while you wait.
-
which version of nintendogs did you mean?
-
any they should all work
-
I tried the games from this site http://www.retrocovers.com/advanscene/images/mk2.htm
-
Flash menu 0.4 to your flashcart using Neo Power kit. With Neo Power Kit, you can only flash a SINGLE rom to the cart using 'nds mode'.
Load clean dumps onto the SD card, and run them from the menu. If you wait long enough, you should get some of these games to eventually load from the SD card.
If you are trying to run homebrew, those may be completely broken in the current menus, so wait for a future menu to fix that.
If you haven't already, test the menu by flashing a rom from the SD card to your flashcart (using the 'X' button). You can also flash the rom to the mk3 internal memory (using the 'Y' button), but remember you are limited by the size of your mk3 (128, 256, or 512 Mb)

I waited (about 2 hours), and tried very long, and no results, is there perhaps an other possibility to get the roms (or apps) working?
-
Check your DS to make sure it's compatible.
Turn on the DS with a regular DS game inserted.
Go into Picto-chat
go into Room A
take out the DS cartridge
If the screens turn yellow, that's your problem, new DS firmware.
Also, the 1Gb cart means "One GigaBIT", not GigaBYTE.
Basically, 128MBytes is 1Gbit.
-
the screens turn blue
-
yer its the same with the Neo-Max
-
Are you following the exact procedure outlined in the FAQ section?? (this is for Neo Power Kit) Probably won't make a difference, but you can also format the sd card using fat32...
http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/topic,1529.0.html
For commercial roms, are you positive that you are using clean (unpatched) and verified dumps??
I assume you are trying to run them from the SD card. What happens when you flash the roms to the mk3 or flashcart using the menu software?? What kind of flashcart are you using BTW and what type of mk3 (128/256/or 512)?
BruceG
-
I followed the exact procedure (about a month ago)
but no results
I will explain my problem better:
-I have a NeoFlash 1024 Mb flash cart;
-I have a magickey 1 & 3 (256M+64M ZIP) (I bought the magickey 3 especially because it has a (better) menu function)
-further I bought especially for the mk3 a new sd-card (that I had firstly did not work);
-the sd-card that I bought was a MyFlash Adata 60x 126 sd-card,according to the forum it would have work.
- I have a silver Nintendo ds with number: NEH 10133705 ( maybe it has a old firmware, because I bought it in summer 2004)
(according to the guide (in the forum) this firmware is well)
-I have the next orginal ds-cards: -wario ware touched!
-Rayman ds
-prime hunters (demo)(coming with the nds).
-I formated the sd-card with FAT(Fat 16).
-and I tried 100% clean roms (by example I tried:0123 - Nintendogs - Dachshund & Friends (E)(Trashman)).
-the problem is still the same: I can see the roms and homebrew (with picture) but when I boot them I always get immediately two white screens (And I always waited more than 10 minutes)
Thanks a lot.

So let me just confirm:
Magic key 1 generally works fine with your existing dumps (gst-patched with 3.1)
You recently purchased magic key 3, and it has never worked with clean commercial roms on the sd card.
You are currently running menu 0.4, and you can both see AND browse the icons: SD card, neo, and mk3 internal memory
You've tried all your original ds game cartridges in the mk3, with the same result.
You've tried to run a lot of different clean roms from the SD card (all resulting in white screens)
You've flashed these same roms to the the neoflash cart using the menu function (using button 'X) and run them from there (with the same result -- white screens)
You've flashed these same roms to the mk3 internal memory (ones up to 256 M - using button 'Y'), and run them from there (with the same result -- white screens)
Just curious, have you tried using gst-patcher 3.4r to patch a clean dump, and flashed that SINGLE gst-patched rom to the flashcart using Neo Power Kit. Don't use the menu at all in this case. Do you get white screens here as well?
BruceG
EDIT: You have also formatted your sd card using FAT32 (with the same result)??
Please refresh post and read again (made a few changes)
-
Single roms (patched with the gst patcher 3.4R) works very well, all the single roms I tried works, no slow downs and no black/white screens.
-
The mk3 seems to be functioning correctly as a passme....
Are you saying you have tried/confirmed everything else I mentioned?? (flashing to the mk3 internal memory using the 'Y' button, AND neo-cart by using the 'X' button in the menu)
If so, I assume that is the only compatible SD card you have to test?? Besides A-data, Kingston and Sandisk generally work fine.
BruceG
-
It sounds like the MK3 is faulty
-
burning to the flashcart via the menu works good, but burning to the Mk3 goes never good.
-
Well, if you have tried all the above, then thoroughly clean AND check all the contacts/slots on the mk3 as well (for bent pins, tiny obstructions, etc.). You can clean the 'gold fingers' with a q-tip and a tiny amount of isopropyl alcohol.
If none of this works, then yeah, it could be an issue with faulty hardware. The mk3 flash zone probably has the best compatibility of all (you shouldn't be seeing a lot of white screens), and something should at least boot from the SD card. It's still a little strange that other functions work perfectly.
Just for the heck of it, you can try testing with a different SD card that's compatible (borrow a Sandisk from a friend or something).
If you decide to return/exchange the mk3, you would need to contact the store you purchased it from...
That's all I can really think of at the moment...

Try inserting the Magic Key with a game and NO SD card and NO GBA game cart.
If two white screens come up then your Magic Key is working.
If you get the NDS screen with (There is no DS Card inserted.) - then it could be a Magic Key fault.
Also can you use a normal DS card in there with No Magic Key inserted?
-
yeah, that's a good idea, but he's already established that the magic key 3 is working properly as a passme device (I'm assuming he doesn't have flashme installed). Roms are also working perfectly from the flashcart. It's just the SD card and mk3 internal flash that's apparently creating problems.

o sorry i dident read befor ::sm-01::
-
- I checked all the slots and contacts (and I cleaned them)
- I have also formatted my sd card using FAT32 with the same result.
- when I flash a (patched) rom to the flashcart. I can see the flashed rom(s)
on the flashcart with accompanying picture of the rom (but when I boot them I have the same results as I boot them (clean roms) from the sd-cart(two white screens)
-Adata must be compatible, I read it in the forum (http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/topic,1018.0.html)
which sd card do you use, and which is the best.
-which is better: a sd cart, MMC or CF-cart?
-are there also other menu(s) not DarkFather's menu but another (that runs *nds.gba or *.nds files?).
thanks a lot
-
I like the SD card more than the MMC cards.
Also i could only find SD cards not MMC cards in the shops.
A CF cart - Which one would you buy or have?
If its a GBAMP - you can only put the menu onto it and not any roms.
-
1) which sd card is more compatible, kingstone or sandisk
2) and are all versions of (kingstone or sandisk) compatible with the MK3?
-
I have a SanDisk 256MB and its great works well
I also have a Lexar 256MB and that works great.
But if i would go for SanDisk << i really like there products. ;)
-
i have sandisk 1g,128mb,and 64mb,kingston1g and128mb,all seem to work fine.
I prefer the kingston because of the shiny, holographic stickers on the back. 8)
-
1) which sd card is more compatible, kingstone or sandisk
2) and are all versions of (kingstone or sandisk) compatible with the MK3?
Yeah, I personally have a Sandisk (the regular version, not the ultra one).
It's sounding more and more like a problem with the hardware, though (you said the flashcart is not working now without white screens, and we know your ds is compatible since you can boot from the gba slot (and run the menu software).
BruceG
-
I can also browse the sd card , in the app "DSOrganize"
-
Which menu are you using? 0.4 nds file, or 0.4a gba file?
Have you tried 0.5 at all (even though saves are not working right on 0.5 I think that some SD compatibility was added to it)
I have a myflash/adata 60x 128MB (it came with my NeoMax) and it has been working great with the menus.
-
Sometimes, it's hard to decipher what he is saying exactly since his responses are so short, but he's apparently tried .5 as well. I initially thought about what menu version he was using when he first posted, but he already mentioned that:
"I have every time two white screens (in all the menus). Can anyone help me to solve this problem?"
So I assumed he has already tried .5 ... no harm confirming, though, especially .4 (since there are both .gba and .nds versions)

wait this post started off going ad a MK2 now its MK3 so there are 2 people with the smae problam but different problams ...
celshader - MK2 problam
What menu are you useing?
Would try a different SD card. try a SanDisk, i also had some problams with my Laxer
try all the memus and see if it helps.
also what filmware do you use? (on your NDS)
wals - MK3 Problam
ok your screen turns blue - thats good it should work.
What menu are you useing?
What SD card are you useing?
Hope this helps.
-
Hi Boblen,
celshader apparently resolved his problem a while back (that post is relatively old). He got a new media card, which apparently fixed the issue.
wals is having the problem now... his ds is confirmed to be compatible, and he has apparently tried all the menus (at least that's what he has said). He also is currently using an A-data (which is definitely compatible since that's the one that comes with the neomax).
BruceG
-
o sorry :-\
i dont really read older posts - I feel silly now
Maby wals should try a new card?
-
Its also possible his Adata is a phony, which was part of the reason I asked about which menu wals was using, so I can attempt the same tests using a similar card with similar hardware.
-
how do I use Chishm's FAT firmware?
-
Ok go here:
http://aussie-play.com/tut-gbamp.html (http://aussie-play.com/tut-gbamp.html)
Which Is:
To make NDS Roms work with your GBAMovie Player 2.
1 - Go to http://www.ndshb.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=26
2 - Download the Chishm Files
3 - Put the files onto the CF card and read what to do.
4 - After that go to http://mightymax.org/gbamp_multiboot.html
5 - Download the files and put the on you CF card.
6 - Put the GBAMP into the GBA slot of the DS and the mk2 in the DS slot.
7 - Boot up ya DS and it should load the multiboot. load the Neoflash Menu 0.4a. - (You may use a newer menu - see neoflash.com)
8 - Make sure you have your SD/MMC card with the NDS file you want.
9 - Select the SD/MMC on the neoflash menu. and then it should go get your nds file thats on the SD/MMC.
TESTED AND WORKING
Please Note: some games lag and take long to load :(
-
wals,
If you have acquired a new compatible SD card, and it's still not working, I would return/exchange your mk3 (assuming your return period hasn't expired yet).

I will try soon a sandisk sd card,
my question for now is:
-are there menus that run *.nds.gba files?
-I tried the DarkFather menu, I copied the .bin file to the flashcart, it works all , but you must burn it all together (.bin &*nd.gba or gba-files) in one time. With the neoMax or Neopowerkit you aren't able to burn more than about 100 MB in one time. This is really a problem. If you want to fill up the list you must restart the Neo power kit (only if have burn about 100 MB) only than you are able to fill up the list. But the problem is when you do this, the DF-menu starts other games than you selected (when you fill up the list.)
does anyone help me to solve these two problems?
thanks a lot
-
why I can't run (with the neoflash cart) GBA-movies (about 30 mb)?
- is there perhaps a possibily to make that kind of large gba-roms running
-
Do you mean those GBA movie game things like spongebob and similar, or self made ones?
-
I don't know.... maybe a bug in the software... I tried a gba video rom (Spongebob Vol. 2) using neomax just now (using gba formatted cart), and it didn't work (white screens only). The size was reported incorrectly as well in neomax.
