Another thing I have discovered is not to plug in the Slim Loader III with the cart already in it. Plug in the USB Slim Loader then your cart then NEO Power Kit will see it.... ::sm-02::

Why does it show as 512 Mbit...this whole NEO thing is so screwed up......

Why wouldn't it show up as 512Mbit?

I copied dipstar..you can find it here http://http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA018359/nds/dipstar_v251.zip which is is 49 Kilobytes to the NEO Flash Cart but it is showing up as 512 Mbit

If anyone can figure this out it would be much apprecited...click on the following link... http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=8662 (http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=8662)

The reason it shows up as 512Mbit is because that's the size of the cart.
When you format with NPK, it formats it in such a way that it takes up the whole cart, but the remaining space is essentially still there.
-
Like I said...the NEO software is messed up.....
-
Actually there is good reason for it, I think it has something to do with the NDS not being able to see the size of the flash cart, but it can see the size of the rom or something.
-
Yes.. you are correct...what I am saying is....it should only show the size of the individual file...not the whole cart.........appearntly there wasnt any beta testing done on this software......
-
Back to my question..is there any other software...other then NEO Power Kit that can transfer files to my cart.....???
-
Yes. There is neomax and XG software.
-
Neither one works...if you are going to support a product....produce some decent software to go with it
-
The software generally works ok on most setups. Since you seem to be having problems with ALL of the programs, it may possibly be a compatibility issue with the communication chipset on your pc (usb controller/ports). I know that Slimloader just refuses to work well on some particular motherboards...
When the menu software gets moved from the flashcart to the mk2/mk3 itself (no longer needs to be flashed to the cart using NPK), hopefully this will help alleviate at least some of the frustration...

Shark: when you use neopowerkit in NDS mode with a NDS ROM that does not have a proper GBA header that specifies the size of the ROM file, NPK assumes the ROM takes up the entire cart. NPK is not meant to be fancy, it did not allocate anywhere to store ROM files that do not have the proper size in the GBA header/loader.
Look to the author of the app you are using, or preferably use dsbuild to add a gba loader that does take into account the size of the nds file (this will not work with dipstar as far as I know, as dipstar needs unadulterated low level access right from the get go).
