Without the customers who bought the mk1 originally, Neoflash would be nothing.
How about supporting the people who made this company what it is?
Instead of pushing people to buy some other new product, just to do what the old products meant to do.
-
Upgrade..
Upgrade is always better :)
-
As a matter of fact, the MK1 is still supported but through the software (neomax, NPK etc) rather than having seperate patching tools.
-
We're not pushing anyone to buy any new Neoflash products (look at the competing products out there and decide what's best for yourself). I waited and didn't even purchase a mk1 myself, since I knew it was a first generation product (with significant flashcart saving issues), that was going to be replaced by something better relatively soon (this occurs in a whole lot of other sectors as well).
That's one of the inherent risks of being an early adopter.... A lot of companies focus their efforts and limited manpower on developing new and better products (leading to diminished support for older products -- that happens everywhere, like it or not)
That being said, I don't think mk2/mk3 is a perfect solution now, either, considering the current issues that need to be resolved. I purchased it anyways since I was happy with its potential. When it's inevitably replaced by a better (and possibly cheaper) product, then you need to decide at that time whether it's worthwhile to upgrade.
As far as the patcher issue, since the Golden Sun Team has dropped support for it, I don't know if any amount of complaining is going to resolve the issue.

There are no excuses. Neo team knows how these roms work, they could simply make their own patcher. Or even better, implement clean rom support into the Neo Power Kit.
Dont make it sound like its totally impossible, because its not.

Your right, there are no excuses although bruceg does give some very valid reasons.
While GST did have access to internal info about the Neo/XG carts, I am certain the release group is not the current coders.
Internal patching has been added to the MK2/3 software, though the people that are making the MK2/3 DS menu have nothing to do with NeoPowerKit windows software.
NeoMax already supports patching clean data transparently, though there is still work to go on the NDS booter for it. It too can work with NeoFlash/MK1 carts.
If you just want an excuse so you can say there are no excuses: the dog ate the patching code :-(

You should go back and read my post more carefully because I didn't mention anything about HOW it would be impossible to do.. I just suggested one reason WHY support for older product diminishes.
Though, personally, I wouldn't want to keep on using a single product forever, no matter how well it's supported, because of the hardware limitations inherent in the device (that are improved with each successive iteration).
Cory mentioned that the neomax software, which is still being developed, will work with neoflash/mk1 as well, so I would wait to see how that works out (when support for commercial nds roms are added)

Your pretty much saying its not going to happen, therefore sounding impossible.
Thats why i said make it sound
@Cory1942: Thanks for the info man. You seem to be the best bloke around here for information..
Boy, if i ever catch that dog :o
Guess ill have to wait and see what they do with the power kit.

I was once in the same group as you guys, I didn't want to upgrade. But upgrading to a new MK2 is only ~40$ as opposed to 250 I payed for MK1+1GB new! Plus, I can still use the 1GB cart.
-
Or if you don't like neoflash, get a supercard for only $40-50.
Official software support for older products is inevitably going to diminish as newer versions materialize (that's just a fact -- the only question is the timeframe). At least new products have a tendency to get cheaper, as totokan pointed out.

Burt0: NP man.
I asked a few pointed questions a few days ago and I was pretty much told flat out that there will be no further updates to the GST patchers that worked with MK1; perhaps the talent behind them has lost interest and moved on, the source may have been lost in a crash and never restarted, or someone has decreed that GST would no longer maintain "gheto distro" status with these new fangled patchers (just a bit of humor, read some early TRM nfo's to catch it).
