hi, I'm sorry if I'm posting wrong, I wanted to check to see if I got all I was Supposed to in my kit. I got the following:
NDS Magic Key (plugs into DS game slot)
Neoflash 512MB cart.(fits in GBA Slot)
A Blue USB cable (seems like it's a extension cable, but slim loader is not recognized properly if used as an USB extension cord)(what is it for?)
3 Batteries (installed 1 into 512 cart)
thats all I got in my kit. I got a bit confused and
woundered if I was missing something when I read the instructions listed
here:
http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/topic,1489.0.html
where it says:
"Using DS Roms"
To use DS roms, all you have to do is drag them onto the SD card using the USB Pen reader/writer that was supplied or your own card reader, should you have one.
any help much appreciated

No, those instructions are for magic key 2/magic key 3 users.
You have the older generation product (magic key 1/Neoflash 512 cartridge), which is not as functional and more limited in scope (besides being not officially supported anymore). It sounds like the kit is complete.
You need to use gst-patcher 3.1r for mk1/neoflash 512. You can get it here (at the bottom):

Yeah the extension cord causes problems detecting the Slimloader, so just don't use it

Look here for the general procedure to follow. This person was asking about flashme (you don't need to install this application if you have an older ds, which is already compatible with mk1):

ok i just got my Neo-Max ;D
The blue cable dident work at the back of my PC but works great at the frount.
Also the Neo-Max have a contents lable one the back which says:
USB Extension Cable x1
if someone read that and if there wasent the cable the would probally complain ...
;)

It does work fine for me as well, but not for other people (just depends on your particular system), so it's not recommended for general use.

It didnt work so well for me either so I used a thicker, better shielded one instead that is about 2 feet longer. I took the old one, cut it up and redid the wire into the slim loader 3 and attached the shield fully to ground - seems to have been an improvement for my slim loader 3 at any rate.
