"Another upcoming benefit of flashme is that the next version (not yet released) will ELIMINATE the need for a flashcart/NEO-KEY in order to BOOT the magic key, after menu 0.6 is introduced (see note in Requirement #4 below). However, you will still need a flashcart if you want to play gba roms on your ds. "
My MK2 (without flashcart) will be arriving on Monday, does this mean I do not need to buy a flashcart to play nds roms, moonshell etc. in the future? And if so, when's this version of flashme going to be released? Because I really don't want to waste my money...

Yeah, I should re-write that part to make it clearer.
You initially need the flashcart or the neo-key in order to flash the menu onto your mk2/mk3 directly. The menu is a program that runs all your applications/roms.
Once the next flashme comes out (I don't know when), you should be able to remove the flashcart/neo-key from the gba slot. This is possible since the next flashme should have code to boot the mk2/mk3 directly (since the menu is now stored there).
So, you DO need the flashcart initially to install/run the menu, but once the next flashme comes out, you will no longer need the flashcart in the gba slot (except in unusual cases where the menu on the mk2/mk3 becomes corrupted, then the flashcart will be used momentarily to recover a previous working version)

The flashme got released today. You will need either wifime capable wifi card to wirelessly multiboot the menu (to update the menuflash from SD the first time) or a flashcart of some sort before you will be able to use the menu from menuflash.
