Title: NPK Needs a Major Overhaul
Post by: shark650 on April 20, 2006, 11:26:28 AM
NPK really needs some major work done to it...is there any alternative software other than NEO Max (which doesnt work at all for me anymore)I know you guys put alot of work into NPK in your spare time...but.. it is really a piece of **** to deal with, and I am talking about all versions,it doesnt even make sense sometimes....(kinda like me...lol) ::sm-02:: is there another homebrew program that anyone knows about that works with the NEO flash cart and Slim Loader III (and yes I was in either the gba.bat or nds.bat modes...I understand all of that now)   ??? I spent over 4 hours trying to get neoboot working right...and luckily in the process I know how to load the flashme stuff for the Passme2 that I will be getting this week. These problems are so intermittent about how things are burned or files  showing up on the menu...I had to make special batch files to clear out the garbage and start from scratch for each time the NPK would just not recognize my flash cart out of the blue, and this also includes unplugging and plugging in the cart and burner each time....I feel like a mindless robot after awhile doing this....

NPK and Neomax are apparently going to be replaced by Neo Ultra.  I am unclear at this point whether or not Neo Ultra will include backwards compatibility for older products.

So at this point in time, it seems you're stuck with the existing programs for your neo cartridge, and Slimloader 3 (which has caused some problems for other users as well)

Yeah,if I am constantly plugging it in and burning stuff over and over again thats when it I start running into problems. Normally I would just plug it into the DS and burn games off of the SD card in the MK3. I was having problems with the neoboot.bin and then put it into GBA mode and either
1.) files wouldnt load to the menu
2.) files would show up in the menu but wouldnt burn
3.) getting rid of the neoboot.bin file is a big hassle and..i really dont know how it did it when it was successful.

It seems though you have answered my question about the flashme and neoboot.bin in another thread. Thanks again for the info
