Hay guys, I'm new to the DS modding/roms scene and am a bit confused. After spending several hours researching I almost bought the MK3, but then I found these forums and found that it may notwork for me.
Here is what I want to be able to do:
-I have some .nds rom backups (in the future I want to be able to back up games myself, but for now I want to make sure I can use the ones I have)
-I would like to be able to copy them to a SD card and load/play them on my DS.
(I realize that is probably what everyone here wants to do, but I just want to be as clear as possible)
I thought the MK3 would work for me but it seems I have a newer DS and would need to flash the firmware. That is something I don't want to do if I dont have to. Would that void my warranty? Is there a product that would work for me that would NOT require a firmware flash?
another thing I just thought of: I am most definately going to buy a DS lite when there avaliable in the US and would want to run this stuff on that too. Any indication that the existing products wont work?
and one last thing, Whats the best place to get this stuff? I found a few sites, just want some opinions.
Thanks guys

in my opinion you should get a supercard sd and and superpass2, im probably going to swith to a supercard once i get a screwdriver that fits the screw on the back of my ds- supercard sd is cheap and it has nearly 100% rom compatability, compared to about 50% of mk2/3- i only have an mk2 because i got it cheap with a flashcart (£30 in total)

Yes, supercard and also M3 have high rom compatibility, relative to the mk2/mk3. But, you still would need to flash your new ds firmware in order to make it compatible. It would theoretically void your warranty, but there is a flashme removal file which basically puts your ds back to normal.
The same likely holds true for using existing products with ds lite (firmware would need flashing to make it compatible).
With ds lite, mk4 is supposedly already going to be directly compatible. I'm waiting to hear more about that since I'm selling my old ds to purchase a ds lite myself.
I personally have purchased from Divineo since the prices and service have been good in my experience. There are a list of neo shops in the forums (several are worldwide, so they will ship anywhere).
