Hi,
I'm using a neomax 8Gb pack, bought last december, with a 128 MBit MK3, a 1GB SDRam, and 512MB neoflash. I've got one of the first DS.
I'm currently using menu 0.6 beta3.
I've got several questions about saving progression in games.
It appears that when you play a game directly from SDRam, or from neoflash after flashing it with the menu, the game progression is saved in a .sav file on the SDRam.
But this .sav is created/updated only on the next launch of a game. By example, if I play Game1, and then shut down the DS, the .sav is not created nor updated. It is when I will restart Game1, or start Game2...
My first question is : where are the data of the game progression meanwhile ? On the neoflash, depending on the battery ? On the MK3 ?
Second question : is there a risk to lose the game progression if you wait a long time (several hours ? several days) before launching a game ?
My last question is about the clean dump of Another Code, european version, which I don't manage to start directly from SDRam, nor after flashing it on neoflash with the menu. The only way I found playing this dump is burning it directly to the neoflash using NeoMax, checking the option NDS patch. This way, I can launch the game from the NeoMax moonshell.
I'm not used to NeoMax (usually just burn the menu with NeoPower Kit, then using the menu), so I'd like to know if there is a way to force the game progression to be saved on the SDRam, because I'm not very confident with battery of the neoflash. In any case, should I take further more precautions when playing a game this way ?
I hope I made myself clear because I am but a poor frenchman, and my english isn't so good.

Yes, the game save data is stored temporarily in the 2mb SRAM on the mk3 itself. It has it's own battery in order to perform this function. I've noticed that the save is remembered for several days, but it is always best to back-up to the SD card so it doesn't get lost. As you mentioned, this can be done by running the rom again.
Unfortunately, when using the neomax loader, you can't save to the SD card. If you can get the save to work with neomax, it should be fairly reliable, as it incorporates Save Management Support (SMS) feature. When using Neomax, there is an option in the SMS window to backup the save to your pc (for safekeeping). Right-click the name of the rom in the SMS window, and upload the save file to your pc. You should be able to download the save file to your neomax cartridge in a similar fashion.
