Title: What time is the last submittion?
Post by: soulanger on August 16, 2008, 08:57:01 AM
What time is the last submittion?
 :-*

Is it 23:59(+8 GMT) china? Could we add a countdown timer in the site so we would all know the precise time? Thanks  ~sm-37.gif~

You can enter as long as it's the 19th somewhere in the world.

If that's true then this countdown should show how much time is left: http://viewsourcecode.org/neoflashcountdown.html

I love countdowns, there's never a timezone confusion with them. :P

Edit: I don't think my countdown is right, see Dr. Neo's post below...

it's not unfair, since the announcement time was the same for everyone :)

For some people the compo was announced at, let's say, 2PM whereas it was 2AM in other part of the world. So the announcement can also be considered unfair in this case :p

Actually, that makes no sense. Some people will have more time than others.

Yes, it is unfair if you think about it but that minimal amount of time shouldn't have to decide whether you can enter or not (or improve).  You should plan ahead.

I'm probably bias though as I am in the second to last time zone heh...

The last programming contest I've participated in required you to build + program a robot (using a microcontroller, some sensor and legos for the weels/gears/motors) that could find a light source in a field with obstacles. Lots of people were actually still programming half an hour before the contest started. So for some it could matter...

Then again the top 5 in that contest happened to be those that opened up their case, popped in the batteries, and put their robot on the playing field without any last minute adjustments.

Anyway that's up to the judges to decide, I just want to wish the people still coding good luck and concratulate the participants that already sent in something ... the overall quality is really high, good job  :)
