Description: Visual Novel Engine
============================================================================

LuAA (abbr. for Lua Ace Attorney) is a mobile adventure game engine programmed in an open-source distribution of the extensible language, Lua, namely MicroLua. MicroLua is designed for ARM hardware architecture, specifically for an ARM7/ARM9 processor configuration found in the Nintendo DS. Thus, it disallows allocation of memory past 4MB, internally. It is packaged with the compiled (proprietary) ARM7/ARM9 binaries to prevent user manipulation. However, the front-end programmed in MicroLua is powerful enough for user customizability (re-compile all included files using NDSTool).

This is very interesting...
Actually I love it. :D

Although it makes me should this be in the game section or application section?

There are no elements in there that make it a game. It's a game-maker, like VGMDS.

People have reported that this application crashes on different cards.

If it crashes and the .mp3 file plays the same portion over and over, delete the entire .mp3 archive from the AADS folder (AADS/sfx/mp3) to stop this from happening. .mp3 support is an extra and does not affect the application's core use so don't worry about not having it.

I will be adding .mod support in a future revision to prevent this from happening. The crashing with .mp3 files only occurs on some cards (reported on CycloDS). If this does not occur with you, do not bother doing anything.

Enjoy!

I tried putting this on my cart, and had about 180mb free, but before all the files could be copied over, I got an error saying that my card was full. Isn't AADS only about 62mb in total though?

Also, mp3 1337 is cheap.

Actually, if possible, using a PC DS emulator, how would I get it to find the AADS folder when I boot the game?

It's 40 MB compressed into a .7z file. However, it should still only be about 60 megabytes coming out. I'm not sure why you're getting this error.

It uses FAT, I doubt you can easily get it working with a PC DS emulator. However, I'm making an EFS version that works off of no$gba emulator for a Phoenix Wright fan forum in about 3 days or so, I'll PM you the link.

How does it like... Save the game you've made? (do you need an extra 60 mb of space on your card for the created game?)

One game is:

+ Two .ini files
+ Two case art .bin image files (if you choose to include case art)

The game you make should always be under 1 megabyte.

When I put it on my card, and right click the files to see the used space on the disc, the lowest number is 2x as big as the one above, wasting a lot of space. is there a way to fix that?
thamks for the info btw ^^

That's why I made it a .7z, to compress it very tight.

You only need most of those images in the beginning in the tutorials, they're included for your own resource to use.

However, if you choose to delete them, feel free. Any tutorials/cases requiring them will crash due to them not being there though.

That's not really what I meant... When I check the size in my documents, the upper number is 60 and the lowest is 77. When I put it on my ds, the lowest is WAY bigger, like, over 100

I was just browsing trough the files... Where the heck is that 1337.mp3 used for in the app 0.o

Hmm... I'm not sure why you're getting that problem with .7z. The compression rate was only about 25% from what I remember...

And about the 1337.mp3, I'm glad you asked! It's the .mp3 used in the custom MP3 example, don't tell everyone what it is though :p

I'm talking about the decompressed folder here, I'm not sure we're completely understanding each other... You can't put the .7z directly on your card right?

Another question... Have you already made a case? Could you upload it if that's so?

Sorry, if I'm not understanding what you're saying. However, yes you can move the .7z onto your card and extract (from what I believe... although I haven't tested this).

What's exactly the problem? You don't have enough space?

The thing is, when you right click a folder it always gives you 2 sizes. On my computer these sizes are 60 and 77 mb.
When I copy the whole folder to my flashcard the sizes changed. There they are 60 and 105 mb or something. That's way bigger than 77, forcing me to remove an extra game. Is there a way to turn the 105 back into 77.
That was basically my question, now explained a little clearer (last time i posted it with dsorganise, so I couldn't typ a lot, that takes ages)

Haha, well. If you need any Ace Attorney sprites, there's lots of people here that have some sprites:

Just be sure to ask their permission to use them.

WAAA big trouble!  ??? I've made my first ever sprite, a death note phoenix wright style one of Yagami Light, but if I run that little program to put sprites into .bins, it says  it can only convert 256 color images. I've tried to save the sprite as a 256 color .bmp but it turned out horrible... His face turns white with some green spots on it and it's ugly  :'( Is there a way to keep the normal colors and get it in a .bin? It'd suck if I couldn't use my first sprite ever made  ~sm-39.gif~
Do you have a solution?

Paste the image here and I'll convert it to 256 colors by exporting it as a .gif.

Or you can do it yourself :p

Wow, saving as .gif does the trick? hehe, I've looked on the internet searching for hours, I guess, I just suck at finding things
:P

Just exported them as .gifs, I couldn't believe I didn't know this ;-) Thanks, you really helped me out

Another small (well, actually a kinda vital) problem. I've done as you said, exported them as gifs and run the converter, got some .bin files out of it and it was a happily ever after. So I thought, at least. When I put the sprite in a case it didn't show up  ::sm-03:: this is the part I put in my init.ini, maybe you see that there's something wrong with it (I don't...)

[Sprite1001]
Name=Lightneutral
FolderName=Custom/Tryout
Loop=1
Frames=4
Speed=0

Is there be anything else I might have screwed up?

Ah... whoops!

The Sprite ID must be in between 5001 and 99999.

I can't believe I forgot to specify that... haha sorry.

I'm on dsO right now, so I couldn't edit my other post, but I tought you might wanted to know there's a pretty big bug in this new version. There's something wrong with the 255 event. When it's triggered, the app just freezes. It's kinda annoying...

Yeah... I sort of figured that. I have a lot of work this week outside of AADS.

Just asking if you can use "L + R + START + SELECT" to reset the DS whenever that pops up.

unfortunately, you can't (tested with both YSMenu and R4Menu v.18). You have to shut the whole ds down and then turn it on again. This doesn't take too long, so I guess it's not that much of a problem.

Yay, nice one ^^ It's pretty useful you changed mp3 to mod support, cuz mod doesn't require such an insanely huge amount of bytes (Soo regretting I didn't get the 2gb sd instead of the 1 gb I have now... My sis has a 2 gb in her phone... She doesn't use it a lot, I bet she wouldn't notice if I'd switch hers and mine... I'll stop complaining about everything that has to do anything with bytes if this works, I promise :P)

+ Removal of animations (SCRXAnim=999)
+ Removal of maps (SCRXMap=999)
+ Removal of .mods (SCRXSong=999)
+ Removal of textbox (SCRXNameID=999)
+ Fixed color problem
+ Fixed names not showing up in textboxes

Instructions:
+ Place the misc folder in AADS/sfx, so it looks like AADS/sfx/misc.
+ Replace the Ace Attorney DS v1.1.nds with the one included.

Enjoy!

Ace Attorney DS has had extensive updates ever since its original production.

It is now powered by Lua (specifically MicroLua) and the source code can be found here: https://github.com/x711Li/LuAA
