Hey, thanks for the message oskarzer0!  ;D

I´ve got the following hardware:

- Mega Drive 1 first model (hardware modded to all region).
- Mega Drive 2, PAL ASIAN version.
- Mega CD 2 PAL Europe version.
- Mega CD 1 JAP version.

I can test the cart if you want too, although if there is another better choice it will be better to get him because I´m so busy studying for exams, etc...

EDIT: And one thing, Japan isn't written 日文, it's written 日本.  ::sm-22.gif::

Will of course write a review for the No-intro Screenshot Archive as we did in the past.

Cheers and keep up the good work !! :)

Great news, this might convince me to get a MD to fiddle with!
Right now i'm waiting for the N64 cart to do some developing though...
it will be a nice change to start developing for a platform with less limitations than the Saturn (which is what i'm having fun with right now)!

Keep up the good work!

I don't know if you were just talking to the MD flash cart testers or not but I've got 3 Super Nintendo's and 2 N64's

all are ntsc (unless you count the n64 that fits pal cartridges)

I also have a retro duo but its taken apart at the moment because I'm trying to make a portable super nintendo :)

its awesome to see these carts finally coming to reality, when i first seen the news of the project i rushed out and brought a Megadrive and ive also got 2 Nintendo 64s and 3 Snes consoles, i gotta say that im still more a fan of the 16bit era than anything that followed since.

for sites that cover Nintendo 64, Snes, Megadrive i have 2 of my own

http://nintendo64.dcemu.co.uk/ - N64/Snes
http://sega-saturn.dcemu.co.uk/ - Megadrive/32X Consoles

anyway good luck to the testers cant wait to hear your views/reviews :)

Wow, this is just great. Does it mean that the PCM of the samples are ready? :-D
I have a PAL N64 and a JAP N64 (with a few mods) waiting for me to write some homebrew software (this machine badly needs a ScummVM port).

Dr. Neo, any chance of a N64 sample for a ScummVM developer? (http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Developers_Bios#Fabio_Battaglia)  ;-)

If you need an N64 flash cart tester I'd like to help. I've got 27 actual n64 games I could compare the flash cart to. (2 games are doubles)

+ look at these mad coding skills :)

although I haven't done anything too amazing in terms of homebrew for the n64.

Got the 'workbench' ready for testing  :).  MD2/MegaCD2 is always out, will need to grab the spare MD1/MegaCD1's out of storage to give a good work out.  The MD1 is the badboy that I region and 50/60Hz switched.

Looking forward to testing, reviewing and spreading the news wide and far ;D

DjoeN,

That's a pretty sweet setup. I have one like that (USA hardware though) and my Evermind Megacart lets you
choose what region you want without switches.

Check out my setup (37" RGB/VGA monitor, 3 X 4-way SCART RGB switchers, 6-port VGA switcher):

(http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7776/rgbsetup.th.jpg) (http://img24.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rgbsetup.jpg)

All Systems to the right of the RGB/VGA monitor are RGB capable and modded to the maxi. The systems under the TV have composite and/or s-video mods:

Here's a pic of my RGB SCART switchers:

Using a Laptop cooler to prevent RROD on this one, not needed, but better be safe then sorry :D

Yes, it keeps the x360 cooler (forgot the temp. with and without cooler, but it helps :D

héhé, right ;) 3rd

XCM is descent stuff \0/

But i had to cut a bit in the back, old x360's had no hdmi, this one does and therefor i needed to cut a bit to get access to the hdmi connection on it :)

That looks good.  I have my xbox1 in blue with XCM case, black was hideous on that thing.  I have my xbox360 stock with one of those E305 faceplates which looks pretty nice.

What's wrong with Hitachi? only thing I know of is it takes them forever to update the firmware.  Other than that, seems like it works fine.  But the system itself is prone to RLOD.  I just haven't had it on mine.  I'm thinking about selling my spare hitachi system it hardly has been used.  If I could get a decent amount of $ for it I could just go buy an arcade from dell for about 160 bucks.

Hmm.. seems no interest in having me test carts here but even if I tested the N64 one I'd still buy another one after all is done.  not really sure if I'm going to buy the snes one, already have a wildcard which is fine.

or is it just used for transferring your roms over via USB

Yes , but you have to fill the info (i think the "form" was on 2nd 1st page) and pm Dr.Neo if you haven't already.

Since it supports  "NEO2-lite" and "NEO2-SD(tf)"  the usb lead is only used to upload the roms on the MD3in1 FC...

Instead of needing a N64 cart plugged into the back to boot you should have an internal dip socket where you can plug the cic chip you desoldered  of a N64 cart of your region into.  ::sm-16.gif::
Title: Re: Want some professional NEO MD flash cart tester ...
Post by: DjoeN on August 06, 2009, 05:00:40 AM
It's easier and safer to use a real game cart for that :D

If you truly are a N64 fan, then mostly you have most needed game carts original you can use to piggyback on the flashcart.

But anyway, this topic is about the Megadrive/Genesis flashcart,
No need to make it a N64 one, there's another topic already about that ;)

Some pictures of my Sega MegaDrive/MegaCD/32X setup testdrive (With Tototek 64Mb Flashcart) The Game Final Fight CD is the US-NTSC version, from there the US Bios on the MegaCD (It has a Multi region bios soldered in)
(And yes, it's a MegaCD 1 with MegaDrive 1 (model with EXT port on the back) on the right side of the picture. The model 1 MegaDrive on top of the MegaCD 2 doesn't have the EXT port in the back anymore)

System is connected with a RGB Cable and sound comes from the headphone port, this way i'm able to enjoy Stereo sound on my tv instead of mono.

So i'm all set up for the Neo MD FlashCart 3in1 ;)

Hardcore!!! ;) ;) ;)!!!

DjoeN , can i ask you a question ?
In order to play Sega CD games with my mega drive 2 i have to get a Sega CD board or a Mega CD??

I'm confused with all these names ::sm-01:: ...

No,

- find and buy a eeprom flashed with the multi bios file (can't give that so)
- open your MegaCD and solder a Multi Bios chip on top of the old bios.
- Place your switches and solder the wires
- Close your MegaCD
- Set switches to the regio your game is.

* MegaCD = JPN/EUROPE
* SegaCD = USA

Your Megadrive must be moddified to (as far as i can remmember, correct me if i'm wrong)

I see thanks.
The modification is only required if i want to load up imports , right???
I mean , with my PAL MD II(it has an extension slot at the bottom)  + Mega CD i can play PAL Sega CD games...?

If you don't know much about it sorry for bothering :'(... ::sm-03::

Yes.

Mixture of any model can be used (Model I or Model II)
- European Sega MegaDrive + MegaCD = PAL games

- Sega Genesis + SegaCD = US NTSC Games

- Japanse Sega MegaDrive + Japanse MegaCD = Japanse NTSC Games

If you don't modify, you will need an import adapter

http://www.ic2005.com/shop/product.php?productid=33

D. SEGA CD
CD BIOS (PLAY ANY REGION GAME CD )
      CD BACK RAM

That makes it seem like you don't need an additional modification to play import CDs on Mega CD, if you have the NEO Myth MD 3in1 flash cart + 512M.

I've already installed myself a Multibios on Mega-CD, and of course all the MD part frequency + region switches to get rid of these problems.

While there exists several converters, if you have a PAL megadrive it's vital to add the ntsc 60HZ switch, otherwise you'll end up with nasty sound skipping issues with all NTSC (USA + JAP) Mega-CD games.

(Same applies if you want to play a PAL 50HZ game while you're on NTSC console!)

P.s. Dr. Neo I've sent you the PM with my address, did you receive it?
Thanks :)

I ordered 11 of these carts from ic2005 one week ago today, and they still haven't shipped them. They also haven't answered or viewed any of my support forum inquiries. :(

Has anyone received theirs yet (in this thread, or ordered through ic2005)?

Like Sektor said , they still haven't shipped the items , even the beta testers haven't received yet the sample for review and testing...

Although 11 carts is quite a number! , the best thing that you can do , is to leave a comment on ic2005 support forums , they answer fast!

I posted two topics to the support forums: One on Thursday, and one on Friday. Neither of them have been viewed or replied to by ic2005.

I also posted a topic there on August 6th asking about the weight and dimensions of some products, and that has not been viewed or replied to.

For some reason, they are avoiding me, despite the fact that I spent over $1000 at their store.  :'(

I don't think that they're avoiding you , Neo team has been here for many years , and been also hosting many homebrew comps!.

I suggest to PM Dr.Neo , and make sure that the title is intriguing! ;) :)

 ~sm-31.gif~ ,
May i ask if your thread in ic2005 has any views??
You know , in their forums only the admins and yourself can read threads that a user created.

I wish that there's going to be a fair end to this! (I'm lucky person :D ;D ).

Conle:

No, there are no views on my threads. Some have multiple views because I went in and checked what I wrote, or I edited one of the threads, but there are no views caused by administrators since I've been keeping track of the counts.

Due to this, I believe they are ignoring me for some reason. To me, $1000 isn't a small amount. I want to know what is going on with my order. Is something backordered? Did PayPal place the transfer on hold or something? Are they waiting for something? etc.

Instead, I am left in the dark with over $1300 transferred from my bank account.  ~sm-40.gif~

Well I find it odd that beta testers haven't received carts yet AND it is already on sale, why would you order it yet if it is still beta?

I guess this shows me to enquire about the product before ordering at least.  I dunno..  Right now I'm just focused on waiting on updates for the DSi products I own, the N64 carts hopefully will be well under 200 bucks or I dunno if there's really a point in them lol.  I mean think of it, you can buy a whole xbox360 console brand new these days for $179..
Title: Re: Want some professional NEO MD flash cart tester ...

Hey amptor,

I bought it because the store stated that it was 'in stock and ready to ship in 24 hours". If this is a lie, then I would like a statement regarding this from the company.

I know somebody who has already purchased one and has received it, so I assumed that the store was telling the truth.

And if you have been waiting for this flash cart as long as I have, you might have jumped the gun too and bought it immediately...

Well when dealing with these overseas vendors I'd recommend watching your paypal window for how long u can file a dispute and email the vendor and see if they reply.  I'd wait a bit, sometimes these guys in China go on vacation without letting anyone know (at least in other products I've purchased from sites non-videogame related that is pretty common to happen).  I forgot how long paypal gives you, 30 days right? or 45 or so I forgot.  Check into that, usually I'd wait til the last week that I have left before filing a dispute.  Because it's like you want the item and don't want to cause problems with the vendor.

Hmm well this product in particular is the MD cart, ya I haven't been waiting for that one.  It looks cool though anyways.  But my xbox runs MD fine enough for me.  I'm just picky about SNES, N64, and handhelds.  They aren't really ever emulated correctly imho.  SNES particularly.. stuff like NES and Genesis runs fine off my xbox system.  Well and my psp :)

I am on the beta tester list and I am gonna test the hell out of mine when I get it. I hope (I know this is totally far fetched) that some sort of software update will happen to allow you to write games to this cartridge from Sega CD, just like the Evermind Megacart.

The cart arrived like 5' ago , and as always got it very fast(in about 2 days!).Thanks! ~sm-37.gif~

Now its time to start preparing my rom collection , do intense testing , and write a large review.

By the way , there wasn't any CD so  i guess i will have to use the myth programmer(V2.82).

And my first impression after opening the cart and comparing it with one of my game carts , i must say that not only its 1:1 with original carts , but also feels the same , but just a bit heavier.
Great work on the design... ~sm-42.gif~

Myth programmer works great and i can see the preinstalled game , and i got crazy when i saw N64 in the mode selection!!! This tool is just perfect...

Hey Conle! Can you do me a favor? can you test out Tecmo Super Bowl 1 and 2 and 3, for some reason it makes a high pitch noise when i load it up and then locks up i try both .BIN and .SMD format on the Myth card, there's other games that won't load on the Myth i try like 150 games so far  30 % of them won't load right.

Ok , here's my results :

TSB 2 : Locks at a black screen when starting a new game , and a sound keep looping
TSB 3 : Menu shows a message about downloading PSAR, and when i press "C" , the screen blurs a bit. This might happen because i didn't set psar in NEO MYTH 3in1 programmer( will verify this soon ).
TSB 1 (SEP '93) : Working great , and i believe that the other 2 might be hacked scene releases to be compatible with emulators( its a possibility!).

I have attached a screenshot with my game list to see the release region code etc;

-Edited-
Dr.Neo , maybe we should open a compatibility thread for all testers ?
That will help the further development of NEO MYTH MD MENU , and the NEO MYTH 3in1 programmer .

Yeah that's what i was getting too, there's also problem with the 32x play back too, i have issue with games just lock up beside that it's good even tho my double pro fighter plays these games with no problems except for 32x games which the Double Pro Fighter can't not play back.

BTW here's my MD MYTH i had to install a new reset or start switch in order for it to run on my 2 JVC X'Eye and Wondermega 2 systems

I dunno , my MD II , doesn't seem to need the start button on the FC.
When i press it , it reloads the currently flashed game.

By the way , how can i return back to the menu without turning off my MD?...Maybe there is a button combo???

Overall , this cart seems to have a great future , especially when the software can be upgraded by myth 3in1 programmer!!!

32x roms need to be in SMD format in oder for the MD Myth to load it right if you convert the 32x rom to bin Md Myth thinks its genesis or megadrive game

It seems like when you have a 32X attached to the Megadrive you can only load 32X ROMS. In order to load SMS and Megadrive ROMS I have to remove the 32X and plug the MD Myth directly into the Megadrive cart slot.
