If you can't wait for that you can buy a neo2-sd separately:
http://www.ic2005.com/shop/product.php?productid=58&cat=5&page=1
Note that this one has 512Mb flash and is 10 dollars cheaper then the standalone neo2-sd with 256Mb flash  ::sm-24.gif::

Are you sure that model has 512Mbit flash? I only ask as the Neo2 Micro SD here:-
http://www.ic2005.com/shop/product.php?productid=42&cat=5&page=1
Says it has 256Mbit flash, and I believe the 'Neo2 Twin' includes the same cart only with an MK5-key, so I guessed the '512M flash' might have been a typo?

Is there a Neo2 cart with 512Mbit flash and an SD slot? As that would be the perfect compliment for N64 Myth cart.

SPEC v2?

how SPEC v1 looks like? :D

an old spec from 2006: http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/topic,2217.0.html

you can still see some similarities like where to put the n64 game.

so is virtually every N64 game playable on the cart apart from the ones that require the extra ram cart ?

it says so in the specs:

Quote
NEO2 TWIN SPEC:

* Come with the newest MK5-key
* Universal BOOT! Can boot almost slot-2 cart
* Built in 2M SAVE RAM
* Drag and drop, Plug and play
* 1:1 original size
* Support load the NDS rom from SD/MiniSD/TF card
* Come with SL4 USB loader
* GBA RTC Support! Support all Pockmon serial
* Compress Function! Built in 512M flash and 128M RAM, can load the compressed GBA rom to RAM and run directly
* Best GBA rom competibility! Can load almost GBA clean rom
* SMS game save function! Support VBA save format
* Support ALL GBA/GBM/GBA-SP/NDS/NDS-L console
* Have SD and Micro-SD 2 version can choose

Don't know if it's a typo in the specs though. the twin pack is still 10 dollars cheaper  :-*

If you have the expansion pak you should be able to play all games. If you only have the jumper pak then theres a few games you wont be able to play unless you upgrade to the expansion pak - its just like a normal N64 game cartridge.

Only three N64 games really need the Expansion Pak (extra RAM) in order to play them:-

Donkey Kong 64 - Expansion Pak required
Zelda Majoras Mask - Expansion Pak required
Perfect Dark - Without Expansion Pak only 40% of the game is playable, and no single player.

All other games only really use it for additional features such as 'high-res mode' etc. For more info see here:-

List not complete, so fill-up if you want
Link83 beat me to it :D

Suppors the RAM Pack
- Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage
- Duke Nukem: Zero Hour
- Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
- Gauntlet Legends
- Hybrid Heaven
- Quake 2
- Rayman 2: The Great Escape
- Resident Evil 2
- Road Rash 64
- Shadow Man
- Spider-Man
- Star Wars: Episode I Racer
- StarCraft 64
- Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
- San Francisco Rush 2049
- South Park
- The World Is Not Enough

Required for:
- Donkey Kong 64
- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
- Perfect Dark

Games that support the RAM pack, play also without, but with ram pack will deliver better and higher quality gfx and sound

I've already ordered my N64 cart and now I'm looking a little bit into the future. Which SD card adapter would be the best choice for use in both the N64 and Genesis cart?

NEO2-SD Flash Cart + SL4?
How big of an SD card would be needed / supported to hold all N64 games?

I know it's really early in the game, but Chilly and Conle move really fast....I'm just trying to keep up! :)

Any Info would be appreciated.

The Neo2-SD sticks up out of the top of the cart a bit, and takes full size SD cards. The Neo2-TF sits flush, but takes MicroSD cards. I'm not sure about any others.

Dr. Neo, are these actually ready to ship? When the Mega Drive/Genesis flash cart was released, it took a long time for my order of 11 to ship. I had to PM you to get them out.

I'm planning on ordering a similar amount this time, but I don't want to order unless they can be shipped. Are they actually ready?

N64 App download:
http://www.neoflash.com/myth/NEO2UltraMenu_V2.95_App_Setup_091230_N64.zip

Problem during installation on Windows XP Home SP3:

The following files did not self-register or unregister:

1. d:\NEO2 Ultra Menu\Neo2Usb.dll
The specified module could not be found.

Then, during loading:

intialize Failed
    Neo2Usb.DLL load failed!

Neo2Client
    Neo2Menu.DLL load failed!

Both libraries are present in the application directory.

Avira Antivir also generates a false positive for PVRomPath.dll (TR/Dropper.Gen)

ic2005.com does take PayPal. In fact, the few times I've ordered there, PayPal was the default payment method. If you're buying from somewhere else, you'd have to ask the folks that run that particular place.

I....i..... just recieved this awesome product and i quickly tested Super mario 64...!!!! and it booted it in no time!.
Neoflash , congratulations for this flashcart its amazing how well it seems to work!!!!  :'( :'( :'( ~sm-43.gif~

For the cart design i have really nothing to say ..... Its just like a brand new N64 cart!!! I'm very impressed by the overall quality so far.You get the gold here!
 ;D

I don't have much time now(will be back in few hours) , but the only thing that needs a small update is the programmer.

What needs to be done :

[1]Before installing the app , remove all NEO .inf files from INF directory because a normal user will not be able to tell which version is the correct.
At the moment there are 3 files in the list if you have installed and older version of the programmer.

[2]When you set N64 mode ,the first time it will ask you to format the cart.
Always tick by default  "N64" in "Format menu" because the current is MD MYTH and the first time user will get confused because of the error message for the incorrect bios file.

Will report more stuff soon.
We should open a proper thread for all testers soon to keep this thread clean.

I received mine today.

There were some errors about registering neo2usb.dll but I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and now it's working, not sure what caused that.

The 512mbit cart was formatted for MD, so I used the software to format it to N64. I tried "007 - The World is Not Enough", it took a few minutes to burn, it verified fine.  I then tried to add a homebrew demo called CaribbeanNights.v64 (http://www.scene.org/file.php?file=/demos/groups/megahawks_inc/caribbeannights.zip&fileinfo), it was small so it wrote quickly but then the verify failed and it was removed from the list.

I attached a real game to the N64 Myth, connected to the N64 and powered it up.  It booted 007 successfully.  There is an on/off switch on the Myth but 007 always booted no matter what position that was in.  I haven't tested with two games on the Neo yet.

If anyone else has problems with neo2usb.dll, you can try this:

Download winusb.dll, efsadu.dll and msjava.dll from dllcentral.com. Put them in your NEO2 Ultra Menu directory, then reregister the Neo2Usb.dll file (regsvr32 "c:\NEO2 Ultra Menu\Neo2Usb.dll")

If that doesn't work you can simply check which dependencies are missing with dependencywalker.com

I think it would be great if the source code for the NEO2 Ultra Menu app was released :)

I really hope that support for the Neo2 SD comes soon. It's the only thing that will give my Z64 true competition.  Do you have to select the card type manually for each ROM?

I can't wait to test my cart once I get it.

Took my Z64 and V64-CD of both my N64's and placed them not to far away (you never know)
If i do like it like the MD Myth, then i can place them in the box with the other copydevices i don't need anymore (but keep them for the collection)

http://www.ic2005.com/shop/product.php?productid=115&cat=0&page=1

"Expensive" is a relative term. $199 USD is not a lot compared to some N64 backup systems, and only about $50 USD more than the MD Myth. It IS a lot of money. I suggest people look at what they are getting for that money and then save up cash to get one. Do I wish this was cheaper? Yes, of course. But such items sell in low volume, so we can't expect to get "deals" on them like you would a mass-produced item.

You mean 199$.

Really , this is the cheapest and most compact and up-to-date flashcart out there.
z64/jr64 start from around 350$ , and you actually get very old & unsupported hardware.

Hi, sorry to be a bit dumb, I just want to make sure:

1. Can I Upload, but also Download the save file between PC and the original game?

Example: I connect original Pokemon Stadium (flash save), can I move the save from the game to the PC, and from the PC to the game? or is it upload-only?

2. Does the save manager (upload/download save) work for 100% games?

3. If so, the one I should buy at ic2005 is NEO N64 Myth flash cart + 512M and will not need extra work right? if it needs extra work could you point me to a tutorial or something?

I am interested on this particularly because of the example I gave. And then I could use it for other games if it works on all of them.

Back in the starting days "V64 CD 256" i payed around $550 (with shipping)
For my "V64Jr 512" i payed around $390 (and the called it low cost compared to the V64 CD unit)

Now $199 that's very low cost compared to the V64 units (can't remmeber what i payed for the Z64, but it was a bit less then $390 :)) and try to find one of those V64CD/V64Jr or Z64 units today, a good working unit will sell for around $200 and more, and the hardware is very fragile, Z64 units can go broke during transport, 1 little voltage peak can fry your V64/Z64 board.

Anyway i think most ppl who find it expensive still will not get the point, but a few will do :)

1.Yes , the functions are there

2.Yes

3.No, just install the latest software found on the main page.

The hardware is 100% complete if that's what you're asking, just needs some support from the software.

thank you, I asked because neo's english is not perfect :P There was the chance the "download" and "overwriting" was only between the PC and the flash cart/sd card and not the pc and the original game.

The boot menu is what sets the save ram type, size, and bank - usually based on info recorded in the menu entries by the Windows app. Until a boot menu is made for the N64, saving probably won't work right.

Without the boot menu to set the save ram settings, your game runs in whatever the cart defaults to when powered on... probably pass-thru to the attached cart would be my guess.

If you're interested in compatibility , it seems that this cart works with just any game(as long as you have expansion ram).

Hmm I am interested on it being a N64 version of the NDS Adaptor by hkems that is compatible with Pokemon Stadium as a minimum, or if you want another example the GB Transferer II's save manager options. Im getting confused by the answers so I'll guess the hardware is complete for this but the software isn't yet, but whenever that new software is out it will definitely not need a new hardware revision (?)

I do not want to use the rom loading ability of the MYTH cart, I would only plug it in to do backups and restore saves to the original cart, then remove everything and play with just the original cart.

There are solutions for every N64 game (gameshark, dex drive) except the ones with flash save type, like Pokemon Stadium.

Why so interested? I make speedruns of games and have done research for save managers for all consoles, this looks like the perfect solution for N64, I just want to let my community know the limitations of the product or how it works with all games. Personally, I tried to make a segmented speedrun of Pokemon Stadium some years ago and without a working save manager I had to stop because it would have taken ages literally so if this works I can resume work on that :D

You're asking how long it takes to burn a rom i guess.
Well for 512Mbit rom you would need at least 10' using flash.

When SD support is implemented you can use your own reader and it will take just a few seconds to copy a rom.

To cleanup the rom list from the cart , you can do a fast format. It only takes 5".
A standard format is only suggested for the first time. That takes more than 10'.

And again  , with SD support you don't have to worry about these things. ::sm-29.gif::

Considering it does 1 write and 3reads per cycle it makes sense. ::sm-08.gif::

Edit just checked it : Standard is 1w/1r , full is 1w/3r.

I need to do a full format on it. The standard missed a bad sector. When writing Lion King to the cart, it failed twice, then passed, but it won't load when run. Clearly it's a bad sector in the flash that just happened to pass the standard format.

As mentioned in another thread, my N64 Myth came today!  ~sm-42.gif~

The flash cart was indeed MD formatted, so I did a standard format of the menu and game flashes in N64 format. I then burned Doom 64 to it. At first I was having trouble getting the thing to work, but a quick check showed me the cart I had plugged into the back of the Myth was dirty. One cleaning later and it's working like a charm.
 ::sm-29.gif::

By the way, the cart I have plugged in is Rugrats. Why? It's black, just like the N64 Myth.

I'm making a new port of Doom to the 32X. I've been involved in ports of Doom on a LOT of different platforms: the Amiga, AROS, the PSP, the Dreamcast... the 32X, Saturn, and N64 are on my list.

I would like to ask a few questions, as i'm really interested about this:

-I know that the card itself is region free. BUT, will i be able to load US games on my PAL console? It will be useless for me to go back to trashy PAL conversions.

-Will you be able to use more than 2 games? I'm asking this because of the switch button that limits the choices to 2.

-Is it compatible with unemulated yet games like World Driver Championship, Battle for Naboo and Indiana Jones? Has anyone tested those games?

If the answer is yes on all 3, i will start saving money  ::sm-08.gif::

I haven't been able to load NTSC games on a PAL system. The few that I tried either gave a black screen or said not designed for this system. I was able to run a patched version of the JPN Neon Genesis. There must be a way to patch other games. I haven't tried using an NTSC boot carts since all my carts are PAL.

It will be possible to select from more than 2 games once a menu is developed.

I haven't tested those games but they should be compatible.

Oh no! :'(

This was the most important thing for me. I would still buy it if the answer to the next 2 questions was a no, as long as the first was yes.

Is there any way for this to be fixed in a future update?

Anyway, thank you very much for the fast response

i did was able to load pal games on ntsc without a patch, but the screen jumps, and as i can see from sektor right now it's not possible lo load ntsc on apl without patch, if there are patch roms for some ntsc games to pal and works fine, it's possible to create a software that patch the roms before burn it, it even can be added to the same neo2 ultra menu, i guess.

Hello, I did not yet get the Neo N64 Myth cart, so I might be wrong:

1. From what I know, you can not load NTSC games on a Pal console without patching the games, or using an import adapter like the Blaze v4. I tried this on my Doctor v64 jr and was successful:

Console = Pal
Doctor v64 jr with an NTSC bootgame (in the back) and an NTSC Rom
Import Adapter v1 with a Pal bootgame in the back

For unprotected games, this will work, however some games require you to have the Blaze v4 import adapter.

So basically the Doctor v64 jr reacts like a normal game card. If you try to boot NTSC games on a Pal system without an import Adapter, you need a patch for every game.

2. At the moment you are limited to 2 games. This will change when the final menu will be released, and when sd compatibility is available.

3. Unemulated games are supported, at least when the region matches. Indiana Jones works fine for me on my NTSC console. However, I was never able to patch it, to work on a Pal System without an import adapter.

By the way, did you know that you can use an NTSC console with a Pal Power Supply and Video Cables? You can find NTSC consoles for about 25 dollars on ebay and use them to play NTSC Roms. (I am not sure if you need an NTSC Bootcartridge with the Neo N64 Myth, but almost sure that you need one.)

There are region free games that will play without patches(for example Excitebike) and run at 60hz , but most of them will need patching.

There will be a plugin soon available that will do this very easily.

-Is it compatible with unemulated yet games like World Driver Championship, Battle for Naboo and Indiana Jones? Has anyone tested those games?

It should be , but i will test them for you now.Check the testers report thread shortly

But in future you will be able to select which game stored on the SD card you want to play.

If you want to remain legal, you can't get rid of them. But you can box them up and throw them in the attic.  ^-^

So it's true! SD card will be supported! :|
Thanks ChillyWilly for this! I've bought the N64 Myth and don't regreat it! Of course 512Mb is a little but with SD, it will be (as RGB_Gamer said) "phenomenal".

I think a in N64 menu (with a lot of features) would be more easy to use (It's my only suggestion...).

Continue as well! :)

Hello to ALL!
High-grade support SD is required for Genesis, SNES and N64 devices.
This is not phenomenal, but its good news.

What do you mean exactly?  ??? MD Myth supports SD carts since last November/December.  ~sm-80.gif~.gif
(By the way , md myth is superior to the everdrive you just pointed out  ~sm-72.gif~.gif )

The SNES sd support is being worked as we speak.  ~sm-79.gif~.gif  Check the SVN tracker.   ~sm-82.gif~.gif

This thread is about the N64 Myth cart, what about the N64 Menu and SD support?
Does it have a lower priority than the SNES Myth cart?
I mean since a few weeks the Neo2 Pro cart is available, which was specially made for supporting the N64 Myth cart.
But first there will have to be a Menu... ~sm-54.gif~.gif

ChillyWilly is still working on the prototype code  ::sm-08.gif:: .The delays are caused because the menu is being traced on real hardware also.
...When the prototype menu is finished then things will go alot faster.  ::sm-17.gif::
Just do a little bit more patience before he gets mad  O0O  O0O  O0O  O0O  O0O

~sm-72.gif~.gif Nope  ~sm-82.gif~.gif , both are being worked at the same time actually.  ~sm-51.gif~.gif
Just have a look at the GoogleCode SVN to get an idea of what's going on.

Yes! It cool! =)
The same functional is extremely necessary to realise for SNES and N64 devices.

If I am not mistaken, for output of a drawing to the screen of the TV you use the Japanese device XRGB-3 (2)?
If "YES" that why you do not use mode H. Scanlines?
In a mode "Scanline" the picture looks more naturally.
And why you do not use English firmware "v2_12eRev2"
