Title: 64mb?
Post by: darklink99 on April 06, 2012, 03:52:34 AM
Here is my problem. Neo2 Pro Manager simply will not let me add any of my 64mb games to it. Which is quite a few of my games. I have tried over and over changing settings but nothing seems to make it work. I have even tried updating it with no luck at all. I wouldn't be that angry if it said it couldn't load 64mb games but it says on the little sticky that it can go up to 64mb games. I have tried formatting it with no luck as well.

you cant add 64MB files??
can you add <64MB files onto it then??
how about 2x 32MB??

No. I can't add 2 32mb files. I don't understand what's wrong with this thing. Just last night I took off all of the files I had installed for this thing and put them back on to see if that would fix it but it didn't fix it. Everything under 64mb works but it just won't add it. It always says "Not enough rom". I am pretty sure that means it's too big right? But that wouldn't make sense because nothing else is on it.

EDIT: Can't anyone help me? I am stumped. I don't know what else to try. Can anyone give me an idea what I can try? I can't put 2 32Mb games on it or 1 64Mb game on it. I know the difference between M and Mb so I know that I am not getting the 2 mixed up. When I try to add a rom that is 64Mb then I just get an error saying "Not enough rom" Is there anyway to remove everything on it besides formatting it? What else can I try?

I think you mentioned in another thread that you've got a Neo2 Pro cart. In that case you shouldn't have to put the games on the cart itself (except for 512 Mbit games). Just put the menu on the Neo2 Pro, and the games on an SD card. You can find the procedure for doing this in the FAQ that I linked to in the other thread.

This is my first thread. I just got an account on here. It didn't come with an SD card. I don't think I have tried using it while it was hooked up to the N64.

NeoMyth is unable to run 64MB files from SD

you must use NEO2 or NEO2 Pro
these are GBA carts

Post by: darklink99 on April 07, 2012, 02:59:27 PM This is the one I got. Is that not the right kind? I was pretty sure that that was the right kind.

The cart in your link is the NEO N64 Myth flash cart + 256Mb.
256Mbit means 32MByte.

So you can add one 32MB game or 2x16MB and so on. But anything over 32MB will not fit, you also can't add multiple 32MB games since the 256Mbit card can only hold 32MB.

Oh no. Can I upgrade it without having to spend too much money?

I know this is old but I did get somewhere kinda. I finally got the PRO edition. But now I have a new problem. I can't use it on my computer at all. It used to be that I couldn't add games over a certain size but now I can't add games of any size. I just get this stupid message saying: USB Device Error! Please re-plug the USB device and try fresh again! And no matter where I plug it in it says that. I have tried every single USB socket and all of them just give me this error. I am running Vista and it really hates me. Can someone please help me?

Different versions of the manager have more or less trouble with USB on some folks systems. I'd suggest looking at some of the older versions, and be sure to go through the threads for each one looking for updates that correct those USB issues. This is one of the bigger issues with the NeoFlash... different versions of Windows in particular have more trouble than others. Windows XP tends to do better than the newer versions of Windows.

Ok. After trying countless apon countless programs and versions of programs I have come to the horrifying conclusion that this thing is broken. Completely broken. Now. Who do I have to talk to to get my $150 worth of broken junk back? I really can't believe this ****. I mean is it so hard to ask to get this thing to work once? I never even got 1 game to work no matter the size. I never got to see it boot up ever. Why is it that it works for everyone else except for me? I even went as far as installing Windows XP on my computer just to use this thing. And guess what? Same problem. Same issues. I have tried this on a total of 3 computers all of which give the same error. Now. If this thing is tested like he said it was. Then how did this happen? If every copy sent out is tested first then how is it that it does not work on 3+ computers? Huh. It makes me feel a lot like this is a scam here. What else can I possibly do to fix this hunk of plastic? I mean. Is there even anything else I can do? At this point it seems that apart from reprogramming this thing there does not seem like much I can do.

I finally got the PRO edition.

If you've got a Pro cart (the one with an SD card slot) you don't need to put any games on the cart. Put the games on an SD card instead.

The only thing you need to put on the cart is the menu (see this topic (,6273.0.html) for what to do and how). Or does that not work either?

I can't even format it. All I can do with it is let it collect dust. The computer sees it but every program I run it in doesn't. I didn't know about putting it on the SD card but I can't put the menu on there.

Now my computer won't see the device. When I do this it just says "device is not connected". I am not too sure where to go from here. I have tried EVERY port on the front and on the back of 3 computers that I have access to. And all three have different Operating Systems. Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. I have heard XP runs this a little better then some of the others but it seems all 3 seem to run it exactly the same. I know it isn't the USB cable because I am using the Slim Loader IV that came with my copy of PRO. So unless Slim Loader IV is not capable of USB 2.0 then I do have a handful of cables that work with this. Well work as in they fit. Not work as in it makes it work. I have tried this and every cable I can fit in this. I really don't understand why they made it so difficult to make it compatible with a computer. Would it really have killed them to make it so you can use it? Well in any case. You have taken out a step for me. My main problem started when I tried to install a game on here. I did have it working for a brief period of time. It failed while it was burning a game and ever since then it just hasn't worked quite right. Like sometimes it would pass the formatting but fail writing a game. And other times it would fail the formatting but somehow be able to put a game on there. I did get a GBA game burned to it because I could not think of a smaller game. But that was the last game I would get on there. Shortly after getting it to work it just stopped completely. It would not do anything and it would fail everything 100% of the time. And after that it just would not read it at all. I really do not have a clue what happened to it but I do know that it just will not work anymore. Please help. I can give you as much detail as you need.

EDIT: Can someone please help me? I have tried so much to get this thing to work. If nobody can help then can you please tell me if I can just trade it in for a new one or get a refund?

try using the myth cart instead of the slim loader to add your roms, i read somewhere on this forum that its a much more stable way of adding stuff, hope it helps for you :-)

btw your not alone when it comes to problems with your myth cart, i have had my fair share of stress with it aswell, with pro managers flashing wrong files in wrong order to the cart, it is a head ache but once you pass all that then it aint a bad piece of kit, although i have a everdrive64 aswell lol now u have the pro cart with sd slot u shud be alright as i only have the 256mb pack :-)

For maximum compatibility try these steps:

1) Plug the Neo2 Pro into the Neo N64 Myth, don't use the little Slimloader IV:

2) Search for a high quality usb cable and a PC with Windows XP SP3. Laptops also work great.

3) Plug one end of your USB cable into the Neo N64 Myth and the other into the back of your PC, no usb hubs. This is to make sure that your usb connection 100% ok and the Neo N64 Myth gets the needed power.

4) Follow this video tutorial to flash the menu to the Neo N64 Myth:

Here are the needed downloads:,6228.0.html

5) Copy some roms to a SD card and plug the sd card into your Neo2 Pro.

6) Plug a N64 cartridge into the back of the Neo N64 Myth, plug the Neo N64 Myth into your N64 console and power it on.

7) You should see the Myth menu now:

This will let you run all games that are not bigger than 32MB from your SD card. You still have to flash the 64MB games to the GBA cart.

Before you go pro you better make sure you have or someone you know has XP because if not then you probably will never see that menu on your tv screen. If it were me. I would go for a different one. This thing sucks. How many years has this thing been out now? And they still haven't gotten around to fixing it. Huh. Aren't these some pretty big problems? Why does this thing hate computers so much?

EDIT: I feel like such an idiot. I finally got it to work. I just tried a different port on a different computer. I only have 1 problem and it isn't that big of a deal. It tells me I need the N64NeoSd file. How would I put that on there? Would I burn it like a game or put in on like a menu?

sounds like its all driver issues

go to \Driver\XP_or_Later\ folder
right-click on the neousb.inf file
click "install"

nothing will happen probably
but you may need to reboot for the manager to detect

load up the manager and then replug

yes everyone agrees this aspect of NeoMyth is miserable
luckily its not a everyday activity

It should be included when you download the menu (from here (,6228.0.html)). I don't think you need the menu on the SD card though, but I haven't used the N64 Myth in a while so I may be remembering incorrectly. If you want to have the menu on the SD card it should probably go into /menu/n64/.
