Post by: ChillyWilly on December 25, 2009, 10:17:54 AM
The current menu for the NeoMyth MD 3-in-1 cart is v2.9.3 and can be found in this thread (http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/topic,7509.0.html).

The current PC client for writing menus and roms to the flash is v1.32 and can be found in this thread (http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/topic,7645.0.html).

That's good. As long as one of us updates the top post when the software updates, people always have a stickied thread on the top forum that points them to the latest release.

Is there anything particular that needs to be done to get the menu to recognize games on the SD card.

The card needs to be formatted FAT16. Also, long names are ignored, and the maximum length of the path and file name is 255 characters. There is no room in the menu for FAT32, long names, or long paths. That will be in the enhanced menu.

The MD menu defaults to showing the Flash screen at startup. Press START once to get to the USB link screen, then once more to get to the SD card screen. Pressing START again will take you back to the Flash screen.

Thanks for posting this thread. I've been following your efforts closely....but it's difficult to keep up with you guys. The improvements have come fast and furious...makes it very hard to keep up with what's current.

Dr. Neo, ChillyWilly and Conle really should be getting every new item you guys make for free.....in advance....so they can start improving on your menu concepts as soon as possible.

I'm glad to see they made the N64 list....let's make that the Norm please.

You guys rock!!

I have a 2 gig SD card and I verified it is formatted as FAT 16. I renamed a couple of games to use the 8.3 format and they are in the root of the card. I'm still getting a "No Entries" message when I go to SDC mode. I've tried .MD, .SMS and .BIN extensions. What am I missing here?

Maybe it can't enumerate the files because they're not patched with SuperMDPlug host or you didn't inserted the sd cart correctly( ? ) .

I'm working on a batch-patching app that will co operate just like md myth and the plugin.

No, that can't be it. It will show ALL files regardless of whether or not it recognizes them. The only thing no entries could be is a problem with the card. Not all cards work - I made a list of working cards I have in the v1.0beta thread. I should probably split it off by itself.

Try a few different cards and see what you get. If none of the cards work, then something else is the problem (unless they're all the same brand and model card, of course). If you find some work and some don't, report all that so it can go in the list.

Also just a quick check, but roms work when flashed to the Neo2-SD, right? They show in a list on the first screen of the menu? The top line of the menu says Neo Super 32X/MD/SMS Menu v1.1b3 (or b2)?

It's a Kingston 2 gig SD card. I must have missed the compatibility list. I'll have to dig around and see what else I've got.

Yes, games that are flashed seem to work fine though I haven't tested all that many yet. I'm currently running 1.1b2, still need to upgrade to b3.

1.1b3 won't make any difference as far as compatibility goes. I just wanted to make sure you were using something reasonably recent.

Good. At least we know now your Neo2-SD isn't the problem. That would have been bad.  :(

Are there any plans for adding the ability to apply game genie codes into the software?  I love the ability to use that feature on my tototek card, but I really want to have the MD Myth and stop having to use the parallel port programing on the tototek card. ~sm-44.gif~

Well, I believe Conle's plugin supports applying Game Genie codes to the ROM.

Post by: Conle on January 07, 2010, 06:27:39 PM
Yeah you can apply GG cheats with the plugin.

Just create a text file with your cheats appended and then , put the rom on MD MYTH , click on "GG cheat" area and select the cheat file.

Apply at least CRC fixes and burn the rom.

By the way , i suggest to download the latest stable version of the plugin.

Download this ->

Extract "Plugdemo.dll" from the package and install it to :

I think this thread needs to be updated to link to v2.98 of the software... although I don't know if that update only contains N64 fixes.

2.98 works for both N64 and Gen Carts....only thing it's missing is SD Support for N64 (in development) and 64bit support for the PC-E Flash cart (hint hint), otherwise it's perfect.

I know that. I was just saying that I wasn't sure if there was any improvement in the Genesis functionality between 2.95 and 2.98, which is probably why the original post hasn't been updated yet. :)

I updated the post to point to 2.99. I also updated the text to reflect my latest menu was v1.1b6.

Hi All,

I had some initial trouble running the software.  I kept getting a "Failed to initialize error", 0xc00000005.  It turned out that I had to add neo2client.exe to the list of exceptions for DEP.

I used the guide found here: http://ambientweather.wikispaces.com/The+application+failed+to+initialize+properly+%280XC0000005%29.+Click+OK+to+terminate+the+application

Apologies if this is already posted somewhere, but my searches couldn't find it.  Hopefully this will help someone if they hit the same problem.

Thanks!

I ignored the instructions at first, put the mdbios in my neoflash folder and added some roms. It displayed a black screen. I then read the instructions and noticed I had to set the menu to 4mb and write it using the memory tab. It booted, created some folders on my SD card and then went into a loop, going from my SD card to flash. I set the turbo button on my third party 6 button controller to off and now it works fine.

Yes, something that pulses the start button will cause some trouble.  8)

The MD Menu format still only writes 64KB for the menu, so you have to write the WHOLE thing first with the MENU Write option on the Memory page. After that, it doesn't matter that the menu format doesn't write the whole thing.  ~sm-65.gif~.gif

I see turbo wasn't on and doesn't cause problems but for some reason it was set to slow motion and of course that just pulses start ~sm-84.gif~.gif

Great work as usual!

This is VERY important! I actually thought mine was "broken" for several months.
When you first boot the menu, press "A", for options.
Then scroll down to TEST SRAM(write), and press "C".
Exit back to the game files, and they should mostly work.
I *think* I have to do this every time I use the cart, but that's better than it not working.

Very, VERY happy. Took me a little while to get into my SNES and MD myths, but I LOVE them.

Now, for the NES myth...
