try deleteing this key from the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\USB\Vid_ffab&Pid_cd03

start/run
type regedit
browse through the tree till you get to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\USB

select the folder:
Vid_ffab&Pid_cd03

press delete.

this file will not delete for me
OK, when you right click on it does it say permissions? This is likely the key that is causing problems on your machine, since you cant delete it, it is either beyond your user permissions or corrupted. Before you do anything below this, make sure you are logged in with an administrator account.

If it doesnt say permissions here is what you will have to do:
-open windows file manager (even just double click my computer will do fine)
-tools menu/folder options
-select view tab
-down at the bottom is "use simple file sharing (recommended)"
make sure it does not have a checkmark and press OK (this allows you to set user permissions for files and registry keys)
-restart regedit

In regedit,
-locate that key and right click on it, select permissions
-in the top part pick the user "everyone" in the bottom part check off "full control" and press apply
-try deleting it again, if it will not go or you cannot expand it to see the keys stored inside then your registry is corrupted.

Well, how about a little more information then?
Coming in in the middle of someone elses question and saying"me too"isn't a lot to go on.
Surely someone will help.

the start of this topic is about usb drivers refusing to install, that is my problem so rather than start another thread i hoped i would find help here but it seems all people want to do is flame each other :(

I have tried the above fix of removing the registry file, i have tried all my usb ports but the driver will not install, windows does not recognise it, i have neo power kit 2.1 for my slimloader III

i have used a usb friver for flash2advance before could that be the problem?

i have run registry mechanic to fix the registry but that hasnt helped.

please help

is that ok or am i going to be flamed for asking nicely for help...

I was the one who actually started this topic, and I can tell you, that, why all those fixes could help, the best solution you can do is to:
- Reinstall Windows
- Reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers
- WITHOUT INSTALLING ANYTHING ELSE, install the latest version of NeoPower Kit for your Slim Loader.
- Restart the computer
- Connect the USB Slim Loader.

That was the only way for me to make it work, but now it is working flawlessly.
If you don't want to lose your current Windows installation, just use another Hard drive to install it; I have two Operating Systems installed in 2 different Hard drives, one for normal work, one just for Neo Power Kit

Hope it helps.... 8)

umm..not sure what you mean by that.
there was one monkey earlier being anidiot, and he was treated accordingly.

I don't know anything about registries or anything like that,so I hope someone else can help.

I'm just saying that there are more than a few reasons as to why the sl3 won't install.
You did what cory said, successfully, and it still didnt work,so evidently there is some other problem.
You have given a little more info now, so good luck.

Seriously,look back,man.There was just one rude person.sorry.

See-This guy here is already trying to help!(thanks, you really helped my case)

Bloaty: at what point does the install fail. Is there any error messages or anything similar to that? If it installs fine without any error messages but the light stays green then my best suggestions are:
- make sure you are not using the extension cable that came with the SL and retry your USB ports
- see if you can get a hold of a USB 2.0 hub or USB 2.0 PCI card for your computer, often that solves the problem of the light staying green (it has something to do with the power/current levels of the mobo USB chipset, where an aftermarket one just does a better job)

Your F2A driver is for an entirely different chipset. I have EZ flash, F2A USB writer, F2A USB linker and Slim Loader 4 all installed on this machine with no issues (aside from that I have a $15 PCI USB 2.0 card for when the nForce2 mobo's USB chipset fails with the device)

That's what it is supposed to do when it is working properly.  The light turns green momentarily, flashes red 3 times, then turns off completely when the drivers are loaded/recognized properly.

If you've look in the FAQ posts sub-forum, that's where all the guides are located.

http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/board,43.0.html

There is a basic one for using Neo Power Kit as well...

If you see your cartridge listed in the upper left hand corner when you open Neo Power kit (it's shown as "Disk"), then your cart is being detected properly.

If there are any existing files on the cart, just highlight them and click 'remove'.  Otherwise, you can click 'add' to select your file, and 'burn all' to flash it.
