FLASHME V6 support MK2/3 already
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:16:44 AM »
please upgrade your flashme V6 to support MK2/3!

download: http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/

Currently it is a hacked version of original firmware.
Version: NDS-FW-V6.
Note: If you still have V4, do not play games that use the Nintendo Wi-fi connection.

The button combination A+B+X+Y, gamecode "PASS" or title "DSBooter" on the GBA cartridge automatically starts program from GBA cartridge (starting from offset 0xC0).
Most applications (like FlashMe) that were packaged with a newer ndstool already have a built-in nds loader, removing the need to prepend an auxillary nds loader to make it compatible with the FlashMe/PassMe boot method.
Fail-safe feature: The first part of firmware is write-protected with the SL1 contact. In case malware erases the rest, you can still reinstall FlashMe from GBA cartridge by holding START+SELECT+A+B keys.
Backlight fades in at startup.
Effectively removes the health screen, making it less annoying to boot.
Remove RSA signature check for Wireless MultiBooting (WMB) homebrew NDS files.

The fix is actually more for Davr's loader, isnt it?

How do I know what version I got? The file only says flashme.nds, can't remember what version I downloaded. The file was created (downloaded) on Dec. 03. 2005. Is this V5 or already V6? Also, what are the benefits over V5?

ChesireCat,

I haven't seen anyone post in these forums that flashme wrecked their ds.  I think that if you decide to go through with it, that you should make sure that the ds is fully charged and more importantly, you don't stop midway through the flashing process (that sounds like big trouble to me).

You just remove the battery cover on the back and short the hole with a metallic instrument until the process is 100% complete.

That uninstall file should also set your ds back to it's original condition as well

Hi
I installed FlashMe v6 today. I accidentally burned it to my NeoFlash Cart in NPK's GBA Mode. I got aware of it as I turned my DS on and devr's loader came up. I selected flashme anyways and pressed XBXB when I was prompted to do so. As soon as I hit the last B the flashing process started, without me shortcutting SL1.
Everything worked fine and on the bottom of the screen it said that my Firmware would be v6 now (v5 being the latter). I was a bit worried at first because flashme is, aferall, an .nds file but since everything worked fine and the DS still works like before, I was wondering. Has my Firmware really got flashed? I mean, if it was simple as that, why stress people's nerves with all the SL1 shortcutting hocus-pocus?
Thx and greetings

You only need to short SL1 when you flash your DS for the first time, in oder to write data on the write protected area.
Since you had already flashme v5 on your system, there is no need to do that.
With certain versions of flashme however, you have to short SL1 even when you are just doing an update.
