*.NSF files???
« on: January 27, 2006, 04:40:47 PM »
I understand that the Neoflash powerkit backups saver files as *.NSF files, but for one reason or another, you cant RESTORE the *.NSF files, the writer program doesnt show them as a recognised restoring file type!

Can you RESTORE *.NSF files?

Is there another way to backup your saver files to another format? Eg. *.SAV or *.BIN?

I had that problem too. In the filename text area of the dialog box just put "*" (without quotes) and files should show up.

cory, can you verify this, and list the proper procedure to restore the SRAM?

I tried it myself, and while it found the proper directory, it couldn't locate the .nsf file to restore.

Thanks

I tried putting a "*" into the dialogue box, but that did absolutely nothing!
Is there  ANY way to backup files as anything else, at least something the program understands.
Hopefully an update allows multiple backup types... I can hope can't I?

make sure you press enter after you do it. It should display all files.

Thanks for the info.... that still sounds messed up to me (having to use a wildcard symbol to show the files)...  I would think they would show automatically...

Yeah, i got them to show up, but that is strange!
Now, all i need to do is convert them to a *sav file or a *bin file...
Does anyone know how to do that?

When you ran etool did you flash it by itself on the cart or run it from the menu? Also do you still have the orginal save you got from NPK?

Nope, forget that, i tried again and it got deletd... AGAIN!
How does it work, i got it working once, but now it doesnt work at all...
The sram ID displays this weird '-o-.. thing, but when i got it to work it had
[smiley]o-.. as the ID, so i have no idea how this works...
i have the original NSF file, if i still need it...
So what do i do now?
the instructions on the link don't work...

try this:

Use the ALT version of ETool 3.13 (wrather than the flashcart version), just in case (I know the standard version has problems writing on Euro 2mbit and MKDS 2mbit saves)

1) run etool alone from the flash cart without the menu
2) when it starts eject the MK and insert animal crossing
3) refresh the id and then copy eeprom to sram
4) use npk and copy the sram save
5) use Etxtract from etools on the nsf file and use the map editor on the new file
7) now use ETcreate on the edited save
8) open NPK again, and select the ETool in the right hand side
9) restore the the output file you got from ETcreate
10) start etool and as before remove the MK and insert AC
11) refresh id and then copy sram to eeprom
