Formatting MMC's
« on: February 07, 2006, 01:58:32 AM »
My card will not read on any version of the menu software if i format it on my PC as FAT16.

However if i format it on my nokia 6230i phone it reads on menu version 0.3, weird huh?

Anyone suggest a good way of formatting on PC so I dont have to use a phone?

Cheers

What kind of card is it??  Does it work when you format using Fat32 instead on your pc?

Format it on your cell phone, then stick it in the reader in windows. Right click on the drive inside my computer and select properties. It should tell you how it is formatted: FAT12, FAT or FAT32.

As an example, for FAT16 it will say
Quote
Type: Removable Disk
File System: FAT
used space
free space
etc, with a pie chart and such

If it says FAT12 get back to me and I will tell you how to format like that. If it says FAT32, do as bruceg says and when you pick format leave it as FAT32 in windows.

Since it is 30MB, I am assuming it told you it was FAT12...  ???

The Adata 1gbit that I have here has worked properly with every version so far.

Try 0.4 and 0.5, and let me know if it persists.

Also try cleaning the contact points on your SD and blow out the SD slot on the MK. Something might have gotten in there.

If it doesnt mount at first, press B on the MMC logo, then press A - try this a few times, it might pick up.

(Just suggestions, one of them may work for you.)

Then stick with what works...  ::sm-05::

Menu 0.1 0.2 0.3 were all just starting in on the incompatible SD cards.
