MK3 RED DS AND OTHER THINGS
« on: March 08, 2006, 10:25:03 PM »
Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this.

I recently bought a Red DS with the new firmware version. I already had a passme (for my grey DS.

I would like to load flashme vr.6 in the red ds so I could use the MK3 on it.

I've tried many things and I can't get it to work.

Here is what I have

- MK3 - 256
- GBAMP
- XROM 512
- Superpass 2

I followed the instruction for the superpass 2... and I can't it to work... I know it won't work with the GBAMP because it has no SRAM. But I don't understand why I can't get it to work with the XROM. I think it might be because of the .sav file that I load in the sram... instead of loading on the root of the card... but I don't know...

I would really appreciate if someone would have any idea on how to do it... with what I have.

Tanks for reading...

There is a tool by pepsiman that will make it alot easier for you (assuming you have the superpass 2 setup properly already)

Quote
This one is even better. Not only is it the SRAM Writer, but if you plan on installing FlashMe on your DS, it has that built in as well. To use this one, just write the .gba file to your Flash Cart. Start your DS in GBA Mode and pick the game code listed on the front of your DS card that the PassMe2 was programmed for. Press A and you should receive the message "SRAM Written". Now, insert the PassMe2 with DS game card inserted and restart your DS. You should see the FlashMe screen.

Passme2flashme can be found here:

Yeah, that was going to be my suggestion as well (though I wasn't 100% positive it would work with the superpass 2 (I think it mentions in the instructions about using a supercard to store the gba/.sav files), but it makes sense that you should be able to use any media with SRAM capability.

So if you have already flashed your supercard bios using the included programmer, you can give that a shot, and let everyone know if it works...

Hi,

I'm very happy to annonce that the pepsiman tools worked after the 1st try with mario kart game .

But I couldn't get it to work with Metroid Prime Demo (without pepsiman tools).

So Yes you can flash you new NDS firmware with XROM 512 and a superpass 2. (which is the cheepest of all passme 2).

Thanks to pepsiman for his tools and you guys for your help,

Now I can use my mk3 with the Red NDS....

Excellent...  I guess the SRAM files included with the superpass2 are designed mainly for use on a supercard (at least that's what the instructions seem to indicate), and they didn't work on your xrom 512 for whatever reason...

It was more likely that the XRom software was mucking up the save file, the gba program just writes it to the first bank automatically, when you use some cart software it puts it into SMS or other places like 2/3/4 bank of SRAM - it really depends on the cart.

The actual SRAM files from the supercard software should match up to any of the others, since they were all made with the same tools, just getting them into the right SRAM location can be a pain ;-)

Thankfully Pepsiman was looking out for everybody though when he made the dualboot app and the SRAM writer.
