Bricked my DS for GOOD w/ flashme V7
« on: April 05, 2006, 11:55:27 PM »
My GBA carts stopped working, even original games were freezing at the Gameboy Logo after flashing with Flashme V7. It wasnt immediate so I tried flashing what I thought was Ver 6 and dont really know if you can even reverse flash something and I wasnt shorting SL1,didnt think I had to and sure enough it stopped so I grabbed something quick and shorting and it started to continue and then the nightmare happened, power went off,by itself and I had the power adapter plugged in and then I rebooted and got  black screens. Rebooted held down A+B+Y+X and got a message,I forget what it said, but tried that a few times and then the worst happened, hit the power button and then nothing,no power to my DS...it was bricked. Luckily its still under waranty and I went to Nintendos website and checked my serial and it is still good till December. I am wondering if they will still replace it or not if they can tell the firmware was flashed. Has anyone tired this yet??

While flashing it does void the warrenty you could just send it to them and say it just stopped working for no reason. I think they just send a replacement instead of fixing it.

Yeah, I believe you need to make it to 100% while flashing, in order to initiate the recovery mode (a+b+start+select).

Sounds like you had some bad luck...

I definitley am not mentioning or have mentioned anything about flashing. I figure they'll just replace it. If they cant power it on its highly doubtfull they would able to tell it was flashed. I am sending it off tomorrow,Nintendo even sent me the UPS shipping label,I probably wont see my replacement for another 2 weeks,so I guess I will be on hold for anymore experimenting for now. I have to admit though that Nintendo has a good warranty plan and set up going on,all of their Warranties are good for 1 year. You can just run your serial number at their official site, unless you know you have had it more than a year. I bought mine at Best Buy back in December and that is when the warranty ends in 06 according to Nintendo's Website....hmm...I wonder how they know when it was purchased....or maybe it was made and then shipped in that month...

lol bad luck with that and hope you get your new one.
Any way my friend "Tryed" to make a power adapter for his GBA.
it worked the first time and then the second time it wouldent boot.
He took it back to the store.

If they find out that you did flash it ask for it back and take it back to the store.

Does anyone know what series of characters for the serial numbers start as?? My new DS I will be getting tomorrow via UPS starts as NU900 and the one I sent starts as NU109 ?? I wonder if they are sending me an older refurbished one (more than likely) or a newer one which might be the DS lite???

According to the dspasme site, NU900 are serials reported for 2005 models.  Yeah, it would be great if it were a ds lite, but I don't think you will be so lucky  :D
