AuDS will convert an mp3 to a wav, then a wav to .ds

does it really use mp3 then, if it has to convert them first?
also, how do you handle the sound buffer? Currently I just decompress to a big buffer, but that's not ideal. Ideally, you'd have a very small buffer of a couple kb, and just keep decompressing a little bit at a time to that buffer, and the arm7 sound hardware just loops over playing what you decompressed. problem is, how do you know when to decompress more into the buffer...don't want to overwrite what is playing/hasn't played yet.
Also, are you using the libmad decoder? if not, then what?
thanks

Currently, I was using external programs to do the converting, but yes, I am now using the libmad decoder.
A big buffer has some problems, like beginning late and stuff...
Your idea seems perfect, I am sure I'll use it.  ;)
Use 2 small buffers, and while the arm7 is playing one, decompress to the other.

Where can we get this? After some quick googling, the only GBA MP3 players I could find required you to buy special hardware. There are some other music players for gba, like GSM and raw PCM, but I couldn't find any mp3 players that work with a regular flashcart

but it's not a mp3 player....mp3 can be much smaller and higher quality, thus fitting many more songs per flashcart than pcm.

Sorry guys, you'll have to wait a bit longer, as I'm entering this in the competition. Later today, I will post some screenshots and maybe a verrrrrry early beta of it.

EDIT: Btw, does anyone know why doesn't Dualis take screenshots?

I don't know what method does dualis use to write the image on the screen, but the "FRAPS" software or any good screen-capturing program would be ok.
You can even try pressing the "PRINT SCR" button on your keyboard, then go to any image processing tool such as the powerful PAINT (;D) and press CTRL+V (paste). It may work. If it does not. use the above programs.
