[NDS] Pure : shooter
« on: August 21, 2006, 12:57:45 AM »
Hi,

Just another little DS game for the competition. Will probably update this one later on tonight.

It's a simple side scrolling shooter using the DS' 3D mode.
Move with the d-pad and shoot with A - that's it  ;D

pasc: you found the secret fire mode. It's like a matrix style slowmo where you can shoot a set of bullets and then fire them all off at once. I was going to make it into a powerup feature and I must have forgot to add my #ifdef DEBUG tags  ::sm-02::

Hey this is cool, I was thinking of coding something like this.  You are using framebuffer right?

Good demo, I'd like to see more.

another secret, the enemies shoot really slow if you suck.

Thanks DynamicStability. It uses the 3D mode actually because I was going to add a cityscape for the background. All the particles are drawn as little triangles and the bullets are quads. I wondered if the 3D mode would be fast enough but it seems to work very well.

I see...3d mode is probably the way to go...avoids manually clearing or overwriting old screen data.

You should be able to add quite a bit before it starts slowing down.

There's also no mucking about with sprites for the tiny effects such as the particles - I can do:
#define MAX_PARTICLES 250
if I want.
