was the 256M version supposed to have some sort of passme/nopass device with it? I got a peice of cardboard instead. Can ds roms be ran without it?

Not only do you need a passme/mk4 device you need to patch each nds game with "MK4-Mini patcher V1.2 for NEO2.exe" to get it to work.

It changes your ****.nds to ****.nds.gba

If you are intested to use this you need a 1024Mb cart which is about 128MB the 256Mb cart is only 32MB (like the free one you get with PSP)
Why?
because the largest ds game is 1024 Mb or 128MB.

It takes 8 Bits to make a 1 Byte.  Their advertiseing is misleading!

Do all NDS roms need to be patched with MK4-Mini patcher V1.2 for The NEO 2 Lite? --- yes

Since DR. Neo want explain I will:

If you are intested to use this you need a 1024Mb cart which is about 128MB the 256Mb cart is only 32MB (like the free one you get with PSP)

Why you ask?

1. It takes 8b (Bits) to make a 1B (Byte).  Their advertiseing/use of the letter M is misleading!

2. More importantly because the largest ds game is 1024 Mb or 128MB.

so will ANY passme work (I have passkey, passkey 2 and max media launcher and the ds im using has flashme 7)

I have patched the rom, put the nds.gba version on the cart, and it still boots into the gba menu.

you need an mk4-mini, others wont work because of the saving space the mk4-mini has and others don't.

sven,
So your saying my .nds save data is stored on the MK4 mini?

If so how can you backup/delete save date off the MK4mini?

And a full format of the neo2 cart won't affect my current save game.  The reason I ask this is because I'm in the middle of a game and I want to try out some ideas I got, but I don't want to loose my progress.

so you're saying (as a prize from the summer contest) I chose a cart almost useless without having a second product? I feel a little let down. :'(

at least you don't have to pay the most expensive device off the 2.

you can get save's of the mk4-mini with Etool, you can find it somewhere on ths boards, although I don't know if it works with the neo2

Why would someone sell something as compatable with the dslite without also providing what you need to use it in the same package.
I feel a little let down by this (yes i know i didn't pay for it and it was a prize, but if i had, i'd be sending it back) I was under the impression that i could use this to play nds roms (homebrew mostly as i code a little) but no, now i have to buy a different product to make this one work as it doesnt seem to work with any other *me product.
