[REQ] A beginners guide for everything or just some help!
« on: August 24, 2007, 11:55:33 PM »
Hi,

Today i received my Mk6-motion package, including the Neo3 TF.
I just thought i could put the .ds.gba and .nds files onto the sd, and then set the mk-6 to run from the gba-cart.

I find it very hard to figure out how to use the Neoflash products, therefore a guide would be very nice!
... and can someone quickly guide me trough how to use this piece of gold?

Thank you so much! ~sm-44.gif~

You can burn a homebrew program to the mk6 using this program

http://www.neoflash.com/download/MK6_Burner_Maker_V3.rar

It will create an installer that you can run from any slot, like the neo3, then the mk6 will have that homebrew on it and should boot fine.

to run software from the neo3, i think you just put your games on the tf card put it in slot 2(gba slot) and the mk6 in slot 1 and hold L+R to use the passme function, this should boot the neo3.

My advice is don't burn games on the MK6, use the NEO instead...  I burned a program (moonshell for NEO3) and now it doesn't recognize my MK6, had to buy a cheap PASSME slot 1 so I can fix my MK6...

I advise most people to install flashme to there DS's, it's a modified version of the ds firmware with build in passme, so it will look for ds code in the gba slot and you will no longer need a pasme/nopass cart in slot 1.

I love your advice... Is there a DIY or a post for this on another or even here?

There are a lot of guide on youtube, here is one of them

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uy28iIn6Lc

The main things you need to know, is find the flashme.nds on the new somewhere, copy it to your card, use your passme or slot1 card to boot the ds and run flashme.
You will then need to bridge a connection inside the ds, its inside the battery compartment so you dont need to open the ds up to do that.

Make sure you dont toutch anything else while doing this, you could brick your ds. most people insulate there tool (it can be a nail or rolled up tin foil, anything conductive that will fit inside the hole) just wrap some tape around it so the only metal is right on the tip.
Once flashme is running and you bridge the contacts (SL1) you should see the percentage meter go up, this should only take a few seconds.
When it's finished you will no longer need your passme/nopass to boot nds code from slot 2.

Hope that helps.

gba games will still run from slot 2.
It just adds a check for nds code on slot 2 before the usual checks, like this

1. nds code slot 2
2. nds code slot 1
3. gba code slot 2

Well FLASHME doesn't work at least not running it from my NEO3...
I get both white screens then after a second the bottom screen turns black and sits there forever.

Flashme is not even close to necessary, and can even wind up screwing up your DS.
Use the NEO Ultra to format your NEO3,with the 1.31rc5 menu(use the menu burner)and it will work fine.
Or spend a lot of time doing unneccesary mods to your NDS.
Either way,your choice.
My kid is 'bout halfway through Tingle right now.So I'm sure.
Have a good 'un.
You should always be yourself.
Unless you can be Billy Mitchell.
Then you should be Billy Mitchell.
